In space no one can hear you squeal.

Dead Space, the first member in the engrossing space horror/survival saga, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 60% launch discount.

Grotesque nightmares are shambling, writhing, and twitching towards you from every direction. Pockets of zero gravity, which fundamentally upsets the rules of engagement, threaten to throw you off-balance. Devious puzzles only a mechanic with installed Kinesis and Stasis modules could solve, challenge your feverish mind. Welcome aboard the USG Ishimura, a "planetcracker" starship crawling with Necromorphs, a twisted lifeform spawned under the influence of a sinister alien artifact. Made from reassembled limbs of dead organisms, the best way to dispose of them is to dismember them back with your plasma cutter, then stomp on their gross remains to make sure they stay down. But what of the voices tormenting you from beyond the borders of sanity? Will you manage to amputate them too or will you end up just another lost soul, drifting across the void of Dead Space?

Dismember scores of twitching Necromorphs and face the perverse horrors lurking in Dead Space, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 60% launch discount will last until July 21, 12:59 PM UTC.

Silverhawk170485: Deadspace 1 is the best in the series, in my opinion. While Dead Space 1 is survival horror, the other two parts drifted more in the direction of 3rd person action shooter. There is also an official statement of the developers where they say that they made the other two parts less scary because some gamers shitted in their pants and didn't want to finish the game because DS1 was too scary for them. xD
Dead space is scary? I am about half way through and if it wasn't for the beep on my phone I would fall asleep. Its sooo slow and dull, not bad, I mean it is playable, but I really cant stand the camera on the shoulder style setup (amular also had camera too close), and its very predictable. The only good bit its cutting off limbs to kill them, otherwise, been there done that. If this is scary wait till you get a self assessment tax form!
The only thing bugging me about this PC version is that it's too damn bright. Seriously, even at the lowest setting it's like most everything is still comfortably lit. I have to resort to turning down my system brightness to fully enjoy the game.

Is there a way to change system brightness (for a single game) without having to manually fix it every time I want to play?

Roxolani: when we see ds2 & ds3?
2016 schedule?
I think we could see DS2 eventually (though probably not 2016) - I'm guessing because it's on Steam - but DS3 will probably remain exclusive to Origin.
Dead Space 1 & 2 I thought were great, the 3rd one difted away from the core gameplay for me. Dead Space 2 is my favourite, especially the chapter when you return to the Ishimura, really well done, very atmospheric, gave me a very uneasy feeling. Overall, some really good moments in DS2.

Fingers-crossed for DS2.
