In space no one can hear you squeal.

Dead Space, the first member in the engrossing space horror/survival saga, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 60% launch discount.

Grotesque nightmares are shambling, writhing, and twitching towards you from every direction. Pockets of zero gravity, which fundamentally upsets the rules of engagement, threaten to throw you off-balance. Devious puzzles only a mechanic with installed Kinesis and Stasis modules could solve, challenge your feverish mind. Welcome aboard the USG Ishimura, a "planetcracker" starship crawling with Necromorphs, a twisted lifeform spawned under the influence of a sinister alien artifact. Made from reassembled limbs of dead organisms, the best way to dispose of them is to dismember them back with your plasma cutter, then stomp on their gross remains to make sure they stay down. But what of the voices tormenting you from beyond the borders of sanity? Will you manage to amputate them too or will you end up just another lost soul, drifting across the void of Dead Space?

Dismember scores of twitching Necromorphs and face the perverse horrors lurking in Dead Space, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 60% launch discount will last until July 21, 12:59 PM UTC.

I'll probably buy this regardless, but out of curiosity: Does this include the DLCs/preorder bonuses or whatever? Not that they're at all important, I'm just curious since - unlike Dragon Age - this isn't marked as an "ultimate edition" or what have you.

I don't think the PC version of Dead Space ever got any of the DLC.

That's what I thought too. The truth though is that GOG does not moderate or censor reviews, rather the review system is just horribly broken and sometimes eats reviews. Sometimes they get eaten and never appear, and other times the review shows up but might be on page 87 of 140 so good luck finding it, and it might take time to show up (or so it seems). :)

Looking on Steam and Origin I don't see any DLC for this game neither included nor available separately. No idea if the game ever had any pre-order bonuses but TTBOMK pre-order bonuses only go to people who buy games on pre-order. :)

Quickly bought it before someone at EA finishes researching what "DRM free" means.

I'm pretty sure Hell just froze over ^^

Oooh, I like this very much <3
Thank you, guys, also for all the other games you put out!
Any explanation why the game is twice as expensive on GOG than on Steam? (EU price)
Nice release GOG, hopefully we will get to see the other games in the series, especially DS2.

Nice to finally see it here.
DS is one of those games I always held back on getting for my PS3 because I had confidence that some day it will appear here. Sometimes confidence pays off.
Got this on Origin (as a freebie), haven't played it yet though! Cool that it's here!

I'm certain New Game+ has unlockable outfits, along with the carry-over weapons & ammo.

as far as i know, dead space is a really crappy console port and therefore not worth buying or playing it on pc.
