In space no one can hear you squeal.

Dead Space, the first member in the engrossing space horror/survival saga, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 60% launch discount.

Grotesque nightmares are shambling, writhing, and twitching towards you from every direction. Pockets of zero gravity, which fundamentally upsets the rules of engagement, threaten to throw you off-balance. Devious puzzles only a mechanic with installed Kinesis and Stasis modules could solve, challenge your feverish mind. Welcome aboard the USG Ishimura, a "planetcracker" starship crawling with Necromorphs, a twisted lifeform spawned under the influence of a sinister alien artifact. Made from reassembled limbs of dead organisms, the best way to dispose of them is to dismember them back with your plasma cutter, then stomp on their gross remains to make sure they stay down. But what of the voices tormenting you from beyond the borders of sanity? Will you manage to amputate them too or will you end up just another lost soul, drifting across the void of Dead Space?

Dismember scores of twitching Necromorphs and face the perverse horrors lurking in Dead Space, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 60% launch discount will last until July 21, 12:59 PM UTC.

Music & sound design are indeed brilliant in this.

rivaTuner and/or MSIafterburner more-or-less fixes the v-sync probs, for most users anyway.

And a New Game+ that opens up outfits & difficulty levels :)

Or if you have a g-sync monitor.

I can't wait to replay this thing.
Okay well I'm sick of the intro. :P

Any way to skip it?
Hmm... a bit dated, but I enjoyed it for a bit on the PS3.

I wonder if this means GOG will feature a few more Origin titles now? Dead Space 2, Mass Effects... we can hope?

A bit dated!? It's the newest game I own. :P

Pac-Man is a bit dated. XD
Welp, didn't expect that! Happy to see this great nightmare of a game make its way here.

There are probably a bunch of .bik or similar files in a \movie folder somewhere in the install directory.
If you rename/delete/move them it should skip them. That's the way it is for many EA games.
Well this is instabuy for me :) Waited longtime for it. C&C next please.

Great Googley-Moogley, you live the dream!

I can imagine your set-up; six-seater 1970s solid Oak G-Plan dining table, antique wing-back leather armchair, glass of freshly warmed brandy & a fat cigar <3

Like what?
I'm not really having that big of a problem aiming.
Doe anyone know which screen resolutions are supported in Dead Space? Does it use 1680x1050?
