Back to Ubisoft. Really looking forward to this if it is possible.
When I saw Skyrim come to GOG, first response was, yes! Let's do more of these big stubborn companies coming over to DRM-free side! We have cookies! Rawr!:)

Again, it may never come, but I still feel that the chances are higher if we keep poking them than if we do nothing. And I specifically phrased my topic, asking for ~10 year old games, which they shouldn't be too fearful of "losing".

They can keep their Valhalla and Legion for another 5-10 years, before I'll start to really miss them on here lol.

Yeah I said mostly because there are exceptions. Maybe they just don't have enough left without online activation to make it worthwhile to do a new contract. For corporations this size you're talking lawyer fees, testers, meetings, more meetings... doing anything takes effort.

Also Pandora Tomorrow is available nowhere because its shadows don't work right on modern systems. I'm sure it could be fixed but again, time and resources.

That still would require a plan that actually gets the message in front of the eyeballs of high level Ubisoft executives, and not their low level PR employees who post on forums and Discord.

Without any plan for how said message is going to get in front of executive eyeballs, then posting messages on their new Discord server will be equally as totally useless as was posting messages on their old Ubisoft forums.

I'm all for taking initiative to try to get more good games on GOG; however, it is has to be done in effective ways if the goal is for the initiative actually to accomplish anything for real. Posting on their old forums or new Discord is not an effective way.

Again, if GOG is anything like they used to be, they could do all that themselves on behalf of Ubisoft. Sometimes all they need to do is bundle some community patches... and not forget to ask for permission lol.
You could also say that wish lists here are useless. The idea is to give GOG more ammo if and when some negotiations take place. Also what would you suggest we should do as consumers? I, as an individual, certainly cannot hire a lawyer, to go pester their lawyers.

Let's not try to nudge anyone because you are wasting your words on things you think might be one day effective.

If you want to do anything, criticise Ubisoft for (among many things) not releaasing games on GOG.

If Ubisoft don't respond, then you should:

* admit defeat, and buy many Ubisoft games on Steam.
* decide that your forum campaign was ineffective and plan a better campaign on the Ubisoft forums - oh wait they're closing those and replacing them with a less open system.
* decide that your forum campaign is effective and continue to spam up with your idiocy.

Ubisoft is one of the major proponents of DRM nowadays. They can get f***ed.

Most of their games are sequels of bought franchises anyway. Why waste the effort?

Sure, but I don't think they work for free. I think they trade that stuff for a higher percentage? I forget all the times it's been discussed and what leaked and what didn't. In any event I certainly hope it happens someday.

I'd personally like to see their 'History Collection' of 'The Settlers' here on GoG... *Shrugs*

Forget that. The Might and Magic X situation is a reason to never purchase a game with DRM in it. I am specifically referring to the time that Ubisoft kept on selling Might and Magic X on Steam after they shut down the DRM server.

The only defeat that I am willing to admit when it comes to Ubisoft is not purchasing any Ubisoft game that has DRM in it.

F**k Ubisoft. Even if they drop deluxe versions of AC2 and Far Cry 3 here tomorrow, I won't give a F anymore.
They stole my purchased deluxe content just because they are lazy c**ts (the content that modders easily unlocked).
So no more money from me. Neither for future projects like The Crew 3 & AC Mirage nor for past (The Division 2, Riders Republic, Far Cry 4-5) nor for potential games on GOG.

ok ... you sure you picked the right installation source? I purchased Watch Dogs from Ubisoft with Deluxe version, also got a standard version on Steam. When installed through Steam there is no deluxe content, but it's there when I install the Ubisoft version, Both are listed in the launcher, so I made sure to hide the Steam one.

The idea is to give GOG more persuading power if and when they potentially talk to Ubisoft, same as wish lists. More than a wish list, which GOG could have fabricated for all that Ubisoft knows, in this case they'd have some evidence on their own platform.

I DID go to Ubisoft's forums and that's what this thread started as. As a link to Ubisoft forums. It has now been updated to link to their discord.

I already have their games on Ubisoft Connect through physical purchases and on Steam. How would I know that I liked their games, if I had never actually played them? Why would I go through all this trouble for untested games that could potentially bore me to death? I want them preserved on GOG PRECISELY because I already "own" and enjoy them. If they want more money out of me, the only possible way for them to do that would be to release on GOG.

That is not a defeat though. I have "owned" many games on Steam, before they eventually released here, which is when I re-bought them. I am also still poking them and asking others to join me. The "fight" goes on.

You trashing their games is not suddenly gonna make me dislike them, especially their older ones. These arguments are always pointless.
ValentB may be affected by the DLC authentication server shut down for older games. Watch_Dogs are far more modern than AC2.

I won't buy anymore because:
- My way of getting "refunds" for past titles.
- Concern about possible removal of more deluxe/gold/extra content in the future.

To be frank, this lazy removal of deluxe content buried any slim chances of post-2009 Ubisoft games to come to GOG or to drop uPlay requirement on Steam.

According to the forum posts the already bought single player DLCs will stay - at least the ones bought at Ubisoft.
I would never buy a Ubisoft game on Steam anyway (the one I have was free).
'Ill try to install FC3 when I have the chance, but I doubt that anything will be missing, have to check however first, what single player specials there should be in the first place.
Maybe they come up with a solution for Steamlers as well, who knows.

But yes, situtations like this one are the best example, why DRM is bad :)

Maybe even more useless. They didn't move to Discord because it's good for immortalizing discussion or archiving information. They moved there because it's a terrible platform for communication of that type, making it easier to forget things they don't want to think about, and harder to get people on board with asking for things.
