MysterD: Wait, what region does PoP Forgotten not use UbiSoft Connect/Uplay?
PoP Forgotten Sands requires UbiSoft Connect (fka Uplay) everywhere. Even on Steam, it required UPlay; speaking from experience.
PC Gaming Wiki on PoP FS shows every version uses Uplay/UbiSoft Connect for PC https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Prince_of_Persia:_The_Forgotten_Sands
neumi5694: Hehe, "even on Steam" :) There was a world before Steam.
I own the DVD version from 2010. I only instralled Uplay for AC Origins 8 years later, then I also registered this game to see what bonus it would unlock. But until then I played offline, Uplay was completely optional.
edit: And btw, Steam now says "online features are no longer available". It's more DRM free than ever (except for the DVD version).
When's the last time you actually installed your DVD version? I think you may be misremembering. I have bought every single Assassin's Creed game from 1 all the way to 3 physically and other than the original, which predated uPlay,, they all required uPlay. AC2 was released in 2009.
uPlay didn't start as a Steam clone though. It started as a separate launcher for each game, which featured online authentication, patching, 4 challenges and 4 rewards. That may be why you think it didn't use uPlay. Eventually they unified all those stand-alone launchers into a single one and added a digital store, more challenges and more rewards. I am 98% certain that if you installed your DVD version today, the launcher would update itself to Ubisoft Connect.
The Forgotten Sands Steam version still requires uPlay / Ubisoft Connect.
