DyNaer: see YS I & YS II+ Chronicles for example.
Yes. I'm aware of Ys, as well as of Mortal Kombat and Supreme League of Patriots, all of which were unbundled upon inception.

I was just wondering whether Act of War was like them or whether it was another throe of the unbundling process (a "silent unbundling", if you wish). Probably the former, I would guess.

I'm leaning on the "unbundled from the beginning" possibility, which would make sense, given the fact that GOG started offering unbundled games ever since TIE Fighter/X-Wing.

Reading the exchange you had with Destro, I can't see anything in his wording that could be interpreted as even remotely implying "no way". He's talking about the technical capability of the Galaxy client to download the standalone installers (and I still think that they added it to the client because of the voices stating their disappointment about the discontinuation of the GOG Downloader without offering an alternative), but that does not necessarily mean that they will always remain available.

We were told that downloading standalone installers wouldn't initially be possible with the Galaxy client, but Destro's posts make it sound as if it already is. From your experience, is it?

HeDanny: I think I must be the only user with over the magic 626 titles that was initially glad this happened. I've wanted individual installers for my games for years and have not exactly been quiet about that. I should have been happy that I finally got this option, but really all I feel is disappointment (once again) over how it has come about. No one should have to do without in for another to gain. It would have been entirely possible to have Individual titles added as an option. It did not have to be a replacement.

Our only hope now is that once Galaxy is closer to release, some framework for greater organisation is implemented that at least would go some way towards correcting the serious issues created buy this predicament. Unfortunately, in this instance, GOGs silence over the matter speaks volumes.
Well, as you said, the unbundling left no options to those that didn't want it. Better and more varied organising options would help, but it remains to be seen if they implement any, and if they'll be implemented on the site too; giving such options only through Galaxy will be exactly zero useful to those that don't want to use the client.

As far as monitoring the Galaxy client during download and installation, there were no traditional installers downloaded. Instead, it seems that the raw game files are being downloaded.

My two main gripe with the Galaxy client are that you are locked into the interface language (and currency) which it is geolocating with no choice to select the language you want and that the whole UI is a messy, glorified web page in an window.

Regarding Act of War, I think GOG uses the Gold Edition boxset which consist of two DVD discs, the main game and its expansion. As I do not own the GOG version, the split is probably done without much unnecessary duplication.

Though, I still hate the erratic decisions here (and absolutely NO feedback here).

Perhaps I really should stop buying any more games from here. The main reason for me was having proper DRMfree, legal copies of my copy-protected games. Due to the fact they often use compilation CDs for their games and now chopping them up in some really strange ways .... it just gets disgusting.

Basically, the standard download / installation method is the unbundled installation which you can manually backup, but they do not guarantee that this results in a standalone game installation. Though, there is still the possibility to download the game installer by navigating into the game page, clicking on more -> extra downloads.

Example to illustrate with Beneath: A Steel Sky:
If you download it via the standard Galaxy Installer, there will be no executable in the game folder and the glue files for starting the game with the included ScummVM are elsewhere.

I'd bet that the game installer will be history some time in the future, one of the reasons will be "storage constraints, having to store both of the installers and the game data for the gog galaxy client".

Wow, what if you don't speak the local language? Never mind, they don't probably don't care about such a minor inconvenience.

You.. are totally correct. Re-reading it now, that particular question was not covered at all in the reply.
Well, that is just grim.

So I state again: I look forward to seeing how long that lasts.
Sad times indeed.

Yes it is. Stand alone Installers can be downloaded with Galaxy. The way it is done feels almost like GOG Downloader is built right in.

Today is Friday, April 10, 2015.

The full unbundling has begun 25 days ago and has apparently not ended yet, leaving the library in a half-broken state (no update notifications, no links to game pages/forums for unbundled games, broken file links, even more product_bonuses, etc.).

A blue has not posted in this thread in the last 23 days (post #631, i.e. 805 posts ago).

GOG, to assist you:
- Here is the list of most of the issues raised in this thread. A few more issues have been raised after I had posted that list, but given your overwhelming response, I did not bother to collect them. I will gladly do so if you want me to.
- Here is the list of those you have already fixed, AFAIK.
Cognition: Episode 3's box image says "Episode 4"

The Blackwell Bundle series games aren't grouped properly ("The Blackwell Legacy" is under "T", the rest of the series is properly under "B").

":" and alphaberic characters are greater than numerics, so "Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers" comes after "Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred..."

Alphabetic ordering breaks up series that don't keep the same name (e.g. Beyond Divinity under "B", "Divine Divinity" etc.. under D)

Unbundled games do not link back to their game pages.

The unbundling scrambled manual sorting, so the library is really a mess...

DLCs for "Sword of The Stars: The pit" each save to a different folder when using the downloader (not sure if this is related to unbundling, that game's handling has been broken for ages)

Are you allowed to share a screenshot or at least describe how the part I highlighted looks like? I wonder how much of the revamp of the site to the fresher, better GOG has anything to do with the interface of the client.
I'd like to grab my game download link and put it ina web proxy .
I can't download my games atmo as i have a throttled 3g dongle.
But if i could put the link into a web proxy I'd get 60kbs speed.
Atmo it crawls along at 3 to 5 kbs.
Well, quite a ways later, and still Penumbra has not been unbundled, though the rest of the collections I owned that I heard were going to be broken apart have been.

I'm cool with it and all, I just wish I had been told it wasn't going to happen. Then again, with Witcher 3 coming out, the keys thing for a handful of games, a new contest...you guys have a fair bit going on right now.

I wouldn't mind Penumbra being unbundled, don't think I want to play/install the third one ever again. :P
I haven't checked this thread in quite a few days.

Has there been any offical word at all about the myriad of box artwork and sorting issues?
