Avogadro6: Man, do I miss the times when VGs were just a hobby that had little to do with politics and activism... nowadays it seems no one can't even breathe without unwillingly taking sides, stepping on someone's agenda, or angering X group rather than Y. What the hell happened to the community?
LeonardoCornejo: I agree, but what grinds my gears is that Gone Homo was released but this is not going to be released. If GOG releases the shitty Depression Quest I am going to make a thread requesting to remove it.
Maybe we should make a petition asking GOG to release Hatred. By we I mean the persons interested on buying it. I would like an official explanation on why it is not being released though.
Okay, that's just the opposite of what I meant. I should clarify: I'm not lamenting that Hatred is not here (quite the opposite, I think Gog has all the right to decide what to sell in their store; while I have no simpaty for this kind of game, I would have said the same if Gog had accepted to sell it).
My actual concern is that in the last two years (give or take) on one side I've seen the rise of the so-called SJWs (a term I find extremely dumb and hate to use, but it'll have to do for now) who seem more and more intent on reshaping everything and everyone according to their politically-correct worldview. And on the other hand, now there's also another group of people, the anti-SJWs, who are intent on doing basically the same thing, but for the opposite reasons.
I don't necessarily have anything against the opinion of those groups: my issue is with their methods. Both sides may very well have some valid arguments, it's just that they are very hard to spot among the seas of "WAAAGH!". It's totally fine to have an opinion. It's fine to try and promote it (civilly, please and thank you). The problems start when people behave like only they are always and absolutely right, and everyone who dares to disagree or simply have a different opinion is either an obstacle to crush, an idiot to convert or, in the worst case, an enemy to destroy. Above all, it's the complete lack of self-criticism and total disregard for the others and their opinions that worries me.
Bottom line is, no, I don't Gog should be coerced into doing anything. They have considered their options and then made a choice, as it's their right, and will face the consequences that will bring, as it should be. You might agree or disagree with their decision, but nobody can tell them that they SHOULD sell Hatred, or MUST NOT even consider it, or that they OWE us an explanation for why they did what they did.
Playing the "but but, it's censorship!" card doesn't automatically give you the right to command those who disagree with you. Freedom of speech is a nice thing to stand for, until you start crushing other freedoms in the name of it.
(this post isn't entirely a reply to you LeonardoCornejo. Also, sorry for bumping a second Hatred topic back to the first page)
