JKHSawyer: it handles like ass
First time I see this expression. Does it mean game controls are bad? Time to explain to non-native speakers ;)

BTW, if Monday brings bad news, you can still pre-order the game on the website:

No. It must be on GOG. I have spoken .

StorkV88: So apperantly either GoG declined Hatred or the person running the Destructive Creations FB page is trolling me, I hope he is trolling me.

They said quote: "we will announce that shameful fact on Monday." and that the answer from GoG was ''"Game is very good, but blablabla".

I say wait till Monday till we jump to any conclusion.

or the game may just be a bit crap? gOg have rejected many games in the past, if Hatred has rejected it will neither be the first nor the last game rejected by gOg.

Who says they are refusing it for reasons of political correctness? Maybe they tested it and they simply think it is a bad game. Or that it isn't worth the money the developers want for it.

I think we shouldn't make any conclusions before we get an official answer.

If they want to preemtively censor site for SJWs now, they'll play right into lord Gaben's hands. I'm not sure people responsible are aware what they're doing. Is that the new vision in GOG?
Judging by the sale for this weekend the game will be launched Monday and the guy from FB just wanted to make a surprise thingie...

Ummm, isn't the game's release date 1 June? We still have 10 days to go, so I doubt it has anything to do with the current weekend sale.

I ment the announcement, pre-order...whatever it is :p
Hmm, that's an interesting turn of events.

All I know is that watching the desperation and absolute greed for this game is utterly fascinating.
avatar
Telika: Nope.
Well, I mean the potential for rejection itself isn't interesting, but watching the caustic reactions is. Are they really that desperate?

OK. We'll see on Monday.
It could be crap, yet if there are 3500 people asking for a chance to make their own impression, would GOG normally still refuse it? That's quite bad for business. And considering that we got some nonsense like Carribean, which plays like a bad mod, go past that very QA... yeah, it's highly likely they decided to go against the wishlist AND against the gamers because it's simply 'bad'. And there are way more.

Also, what's bad is a bit... subjective. Consider the 'reviews' of Postal 2 vs the gamer ranking for example. I'm sure it is bad for some people. I have a feeling it's the same kind of people that will take Hatred as bad. That's fine, what's not fine is not bringing it here, despite the audience that wants to play it, because of those people.

I hate twitch platformers, and I don't consider 'emotional walking simulators' games at all, yet I don't ask for them to be rejected cause they're bad to me. There's clearly a target audience that wants the game here, and wants to pay for it, and the willingness of devs to bring it here. What I want is to be given an opportunity, a chance to get it here and play it. If it sucks it's my money I wasted, and it's still a gain for GOG.

Surely, letting thousands of people that care actually buy a game on the platform is not 'bad for business', eh? Unless there is a bigger reason.

Dunno. Maybe it's interesting to see that the "omg so transgressive" aspect generates so much hysteria on the side of the "teehehee i say penis aloud when my mum cannot hear" kids, but the phenomenon is nothing new in itself. And whether the game will be released on gog or not is a completely uninteresting question by itself.

The question of why Braid never showed us here, for instance, is more intriguing. But, again, that is a question based on game quality, and not on juvenile dog-kicking self-affirmation crisis.

GOG is and always was a curated store and so it's a normal thing that they reject games.

I bet there are potential buyers for almost every bad game out there, but would it really be a good idea to sell every of those games here? They would very soon end up as another store like Desura where you really have to search for the gems inside of piles of crap games and shovelware.

Of course it is disputable if a certain game is or isn't bad, but in the end it's the vote from the GOG owners and employees that matters. It's their store after all and they have every right to decide which games they want or don't want to sell here.

DeathDiciple: 3500 people .
Even the town I currently live in has more people than that. Even if you are Indy as "Incredibly questionable Polish studio", that's still a terribly small amount of potential sales. Especially if statistically speaking, there was a percentage that didn't buy it or had it refunded. Doesn't matter if they had the budget of British Zombie movie Colin. (45₤)

There are far safer, and far bigger titles that would more than likely be better for GOG and the loss of an incredibly vocal minority would be no loss to GOG. Witcher 3, the Lucasfilms games, and Saints Row have likely given the company enough pocket padding to feel no loss from the avoidance of a game that manages to get banned from discussion on several gaming enthusiast sites, including Neogaf.

Like Pac-Man Championship Edition DX to celebrate 35 years of Pac-Man. That game is intense, and you get to kill lots of things in it!
