yes but part of the problem is you also have a big add pushing galaxy 2 onto people as part of that update so it looks like the g2 is part of the update

terms like UPGRADE to Galaxy 2 are misleading... Galaxy 2 is not an upgrade [its just a bata] and there are major parts still missing from it so people then have to run around looking for a way to fix the problem by download galaxy 1 again
I have a question about your new Galaxy version. How is security of the connection of several different game launchers ensured? Do you have any particular measures in place? Is the risk mitigated in any way? Should there be a leak of passwords from GOG, would all the connected accounts from other providers get their passes leaked along with the GOG one?

i assume you are asking about Galaxy 2 so the answer to that question is that it doesn't have anything to do with Gog so for example; lets say you have the Star wars old republic online game installed... its password, username and characters ares stored with the online server [Bioware thats is, EA own the server... in fact they just rent it but thats not the point] i.e, Gog doesn't have the server, your password or anything to leak

linking SW-tor to Galaxy 2 = you launch the game from Galaxy instead of the desktop exe and it tracks how many hours, days, weeks as well as who else has the game installed and are they playing right now... assuming they are in your mates list & those things are allowed by both you and your mates
Is dosbox Vulkan going to be implemented in the graphics setup menu instead of opengl?

Ah, ok, so it is just an extra launcher,, not an integration of systems? I got the wrong idea, thanks for the clarification!
Hey,
we have released GOG Galaxy 1.2.67 to channel with Beta updates.
We updated POCO library, which is widely used in our application, so we would like to verify everything works correctly.

EDIT:

It is now available for all users, as we did not discover any new serious issues :)

I got the update a few hours ago, now downloading any backup file via galaxy fails with a server error. <insert name here>:Failed server problem

Is this the update or has something broken server side?

I installed 2.0.11 which imported the things from the previous version of GOG and now I am able to download again.

Completely uninstalling 2.0.11 and doing a fresh reinstalling 1.2.67 means I still can't download backup files from the galaxy client.

Pretty much I'm left with either a broken 1.2.67 or a 2.0.11 version missing a lot of basic features 1.2.67 has.

I was just about to complete a fault submission, when I discovered the problem appears to have fixed itself.

My only concusion at this point as nothing had changed on my test machine is that GOG had server problems causing the issue. It would have been nice if GOG had informed us of this and that it had been dealt with especially as they were pushing a brand new version of Galaxy out to people.

I believe people wish GOG & Galaxy to be as good as possible but GOG not informing people about what they are doing is just plain irresponsible.

I would add to that unless you have a downloaded copy of Galaxy it seems impossible to revert back to a previous version which not only makes regresson testing difficult it means if there is a problem customer suffer & developers are put under a lot of pressure to fix the problem so the current system is a lose-lose for everyone.

At the least GOG should provide links to the prior version of the software and should really look at allowing Galaxy to have auto-updates disabled and the option to roll it back to an earlier version as can be done with GOG games installed by it.

Hey,

thanks for information about the issue. It should now be resolved.

It was indeed caused by recent GOG Galaxy 1.2.67 update, but we have fixed that on backend (server-side), so it should be fine.

It would be sensible to provide an easy means for user to revert Galaxy back to a previous version as can be done with game installs & the means to disable automatic galaxy updates. If both of these things had been possible I could have been saved a considerable amount of time & effort.

The result of this is now having to uninstall 1.2.67 & back again I need to re-verify all of installed games and quite possibly reinstall some of them depending on how much that mangles my mods.

Frankly it is going to take me literally days to get back to where I was before this was pushed onto my machine not to mention the lost time trying to figure out WTH was happening last night.
Hi guys, just FYI I'm getting the error "Essential components needed to start GOG Galaxy are missing. Please reinstall the application." every time I try to start GOG Galaxy version 1.2.67.58. If I remove it and reinstall version 1.2.66.64 or lower it works fine, and I've tried removing/reinstalling it multiple times now to check. I'm on the latest Windows 10 x64, all up to date.

I'm wondering if this is related to the security update that was part of 1.2.67.58? I have GOG Galaxy installed to C:\Games, but that's a directory junction to D:\Games on my system. Maybe this security update isn't handling NTFS junctions well?

Apparently we can expect Galaxy 2.0 to be rolled out to everyone 'in the coming weeks'. I must remark that the comments I'm seeing in the beta subforum aren't exactly full of promise...
