Blackhand: Hey, did last update change anything related to achievements? I'm playing War for the Overworld, "unlocked" few yesterday (they show in game as unlocked) but Galaxy didn't "notice" it (the popup message that tells me about access to Galaxy overlay doesn't show when I launch the game, I think it did before recent Galaxy update). I have all options related to achievements, storing saves in cloud and access to Galaxy overlay in game checked.
Thanks for the information.
1. The newest Gog Galaxy is 1.2.34 (or 1.2.35 on beta). Do you have that version? If you have different one, pleae close and launch GOG Galaxy again - it should update itself to the newest version.
2. Do you use "public beta" feature (did it happen on 1.2.35)?
3. Does Shift+Tab open Overlay for you?

trooper6: So, ever since I updated to 1.2.29, I've been having trouble with Galaxy.

Specifically, I start Galaxy, then after a few moments a get a pop up message that reads:
(%appName%—Error, Connection to Communication Service was lost and could not be restored! GOG Galaxy will now shutdown)

Then it shuts down. What to do about this? Do I just wait for a new update? Is there something else I can do?

I'm on a Mac running OX10.13.1
avatar
GoodFastCheap: I am having the same problem with the latest Galaxy 1.2.34 running on macOS 10.13.3.

I'd like to try Galaxy — because it seems to be the replacement for Downloader, and "classic" (i.e., non-Downloader, non-Galaxy) downloads for Mac are unsigned, which causes problems with Gatekeeper — but this is literally a non-starter.

I do have a hacked HOSTS file to block ads and cookies, but it doesn't include any *.gog.com sites so that shouldn't be an issue.
Please post your logs on http://mantis.gog.com - there are instructions there. It would be really helpful to see what's causing the issue for you.

BKGaming: Everything is currently down is Galaxy right now, can't view library or store, etc. Mutiple users reporting. Just posting in case you are unaware.
We are aware of the issue, and are working on a fix as I write this.
Still, thanks for giving us a heads up.

Everything should be working again :)

Venom: - Cloud copy of save games will be removed on next sync when local files are removed and quota is exceeded
avatar
omega64: Guys, please could you ask what to delete if the quota has been reached giving a list. This way we could decide what's important instead of you randomly deleting stuff. Unless I'm misinterpreting this. I use cloud saves as backups for the saves. This means I can't actually rely on the cloudsaving feature Galaxy has.
Maybe the changelog entry wasn't worded well, but of course we won't delete any of your files (local or remote) without your action.

Once the cloud storage quota is reached for a particular game the automatic sync will stop with an error. Once you _manually_ delete local files, those changes will be synced to the remote storage on next sync.

Due to technical reasons, if the quota is not reached, files removed locally are removed from remote storage after 24h.

omega64: So... if I delete a game's saves at any time Galaxy will sync and delete them from the cloud?
Or just after the quota has been reached.
The game needs to provide the option to remove saves. Once you remove a save from the game it will be deleted from the cloud storage after 24h. If you're over the quota for this game, the save will be removed from the cloud immietly, to allow you to upload new saves right away.

If save games will be deleted locally but outside of the game, they will be restored locally from the cloud on next sync.
Hey,

we have released GOG Galaxy 1.2.36 today.

The changes we've been keeping on Beta channel are now available to everyone, which, most notably, means lower CPU and memory usage thanks to upgrade of CEF!

It also adds couple bugfixes. More information you can find in the changelog.

Since you're mentioning DLC I assume it's the base TW3 version not the GOTY? We'll investigate the issue.

BKGaming: Yes I would have grabbed the GOTY edition but achievement are separate so I didn't what to miss out on one's I have already unlocked.
Did you download the offline installers and install the games on the destination machine, or did you install games via Galaxy on source machine and just move the files to the destination machine?

avatar
BKGaming: Galaxy and I just moved them.
If you want to download games on one machine and install on another offline installers would be the best way to go. You can of course use Galaxy on both machines. But just moving the game files will skip the actual game installation process, that adds registry entries, installs additional dependencies and files in folders outside of the game folder. That might be the cause of your issues. We'll look into it regardless.

Carnzoid: Yeah what the hell, I tried to start up GOG on 10.9 and it just doesn't start, I had to search for a while to find out that the minimum OS requirement of GOG changed. No warning whatsoever. Why was it done in such a sneaky way?
Hello,

This might have been a quiet change (I agree, we'll do better next time) but unfortunately we need to use latest APIs to support new features. We're currently supporting macOS 10.11+ as it clearly states on gog.com/galaxy. What stops you guys from upgrading to at least 10.11?
avatar
GoodFastCheap: I am having the same problem with the latest Galaxy 1.2.34 running on macOS 10.13.3.
avatar
GoodFastCheap: An update: I've installed Galaxy 1.2.37 on two different Macs running macOS 10.13.3, and it seems to be running okay on both.

I've added this note to Issue 5534.

While I'm here, though, a more general question: does Galaxy's Cloud Sync do anything with save files that isn't already done if my entire Documents folder is synced by iCloud Drive?
It syncs per GOG.com user. I don't know if this specific game store saves in the Documents folder. For some games it syncs also the game configs. You can always go to MORE->backups&goodies and download your cloud saves copy to check what it syncs exactly for your game. :)
Hey,

we have released GOG Galaxy 1.2.38, available for those who have Beta updates enabled.

Other than bug fixes it brings reworked windows handling system. GOG Galaxy should be able to persist your size, location and fullscreen preferences of windows better than before.

We have performed extensive tests of this new system, but if there's any new bugs introduced please give us a heads up, as this code digs down deep into how communication with Chromium Embedded Framework on which GOG Galaxy client is based.

omega64: Oh god, Galaxy just updated and the top bar is hideous now. What did you guys do!
Can you elaborate on that - or better - send a screenshot? :)
