Dunno, I always posted my referrals in the past, also by clearly saying it was a referral and what each user would get from it (like for GMG referrals), I never saw a rule regarding them and the GOG mods didn't say anything about too, so I thought it was ok. If something changed meanwhile, well, I didn't know.
Today's Star Deal on Fanatical is The Evil Within 2 (-57%).

Region-Lock Notice:

The game will not activate in the following regions:
Australia, China, Russian Federation

There's no rules against it.... it's just... well *points at muntdefems* something ppl don't like; it's like you're advertising.
Plus it's completely based on you... if you cancel your subscription tomorrow the link doens't work anymore.
It's not really a deal because of that... it's conditional.

A better way would to be to link to to page where they describe the offer & then say something like "and if anyone wants to use my referral I'd appreciate it".

And if everyone posted their referral for random promotion x the topic would just be a spam topic. There's referrals for Guild Wars, World Of Warcraft, Humble Bundle monthly subscribers can share their 10% off with anyone with yet another referral (so someone can get bayonette for $9 instead of the current $10 etc.), there's Windows Store referrals, etc.

Well, first of all I must say I don't follow this thread regularly, so if posting referrals is actually something common around here and the regulars are OK with it, then I've got nothing to say on the matter. The low ratings on both posts seem to point in the other direction, though (just for the record, I didn't downvote any of them).

It's only that SolidSnale's post kinda rubbed me the wrong way, presenting it as a generous, selfless announcement of a nice deal. Extra marks for making claims (those $20 as credit) that I still couldn't find anywhere.
"Referrals" are mentioned in the "Policies and General Info": FAQ: Forums and feedback:

Selling (including real life or in-game trading), advertising, referrals, auctioning - unless this applies to giveaways..

O.K. - I finally found it ;) Could somebody please explain to me how you can at the same time sell something and participate in a giveaway? I mean the whol point of giveaways should be that people do give things away for free or am I mistaken here?

My read is it's a translation issue and that they're saying these restrictions don't apply to giveaways, but I agree it's a bit awk..
Fanatical is doing a flash 24 hour sale- posts a new sale every hour on the hour.

So far:

Insurgency 90% off
Jackbox Party Pack 3: 66%
Injustice 2 Ultimate Ed 18%
Command Modern Air/Naval Something: 75%
Evil Within 76%
Dead Age 80%
Train Valley 80%
Lego Jurassic World Complete 79%

16 to go?

I recommend Train Valley for that price.

Indeed, Train Valley was one of my surprise games last year, much better than expected.

Speaking of which, it is also part of the Elegant Engineering Bundle in the Steam sale, with Mini Metro, Poly Bridge, Simple Planes and Turmoil. All good games, and well worth the asking price. One of the hidden gems in this sale.

it's cheaper on https://uk.gamersgate.com/DD-THE-EVIL-WITHIN-2-REL/the-evil-within-2 £20 + BCs

GG UK has some insanely low prices, generally.

PS: and obviously you can get an extra 18% with GGBethesda18 on Bethesda games

Maybe the post can be read like that, because I typed from my phone and really I didn't put much effort on writing the post. And also I have the referral saved on the bookmark, and I didn't even edited that. So yeah, maybe the post can be read as "selfish", but that wasn't the intention honestly. In the past in this same thread I used to link the promotion, and everytime I linked my referral, I specificed what I would get and what the user using it would get (eventually).
You can check it by looking at my post history. I did it every single time, but this time simply I couldn't. I posted a short message with the intention to edit it later, but since I saw the post istantly downrepped and the "negative" quote, I gave up on the idea.
I won't post any referral in the future if this bums people out, but like in the past for GMG, I only posted referrals when both users gained something from it.
