Runs very slow on my old laptop unlike ANY other Doom mods. However if certain effects are disabled it runs almost flawlessly (especially weather effects), draw distance and renderer = Vulkan have little to none effect in my case, and I strongly advise against any performance predefined settings, namely potato, this will disable gorgeous 3D trees and make your view distance of a mole but will not turn off the most cumbersome effects.

The game needs some additional tweaks here and there, for instance the active exclamation mark above a person turn grey if you stand near him, in briefing room if you read the level stat notes before speaking with two officers even without standing near them it will also turn their respective marks as grey, the medic in the lobby will always have the second active mark after a healing procedure soon after you raise your health higher than base 100%, the first Commander Keen level, the Slug Village, from Red Cartridge will have normal 217 treasures and 1 secret but will add the non-existent 218 treasure the moment you find that secret (217 treasures plus 1 secret according to some broken logic I guess), lastly the game might terminate itself at random without saving any changes you made this includes key mapping so I suggest to quit soon after you tweaked game options and define keys.
The most annoying thing for me was the inability of mod to implement the weather effects changes along with some others without restarting a level, this means that your save will be forever burdened with those settings your set during the level before that, so I had to save every time in between levels only to check how good or bad it will run for me.

What else? Well, I can't complete the game, to be precise the Episode 1 Mission 6. Soon after I place the third charge onto the box the game just quit to the menu with error code (see attached). I redownloaded the mod from ModDB 3 days ago, Windows 7 (x64) - ASUS notebook K56C: i7 2 Ghz, 8Gb RAM and GeForce 740M. I tried everything but it seems even if the problem lies with some effect working incorrectly I can't change it within the save file.

Otherwise the game rocks! Will try it at home on my slightly more powerful desktop PC.

Error code reads: VM execution aborted: tried to read from address zero. In function parameter "type".
It seems they know of a problem and there IS a cure:

nightcraw1er.488: 15h in, nearly 3/4 through chapter 3 and now you mention there is secret levels, aaaarrrggh!
avatar
Lifthrasil: Well, not that secret. That's why I put it in quotation marks. It's a special level you go to when you collect all 6 clues in Mission 1 of Chapter 3 and it has lots and lots of respawning zombies.
I disliked chapter 3 special mission as well. It would have been ok, if it wan't for THE DAMN HUNTERS.
Episode 1 complete (thank to the cure), two more to go. So far it's an awesome project, can't wait to play Episode 2. The best thing is that looking for secrets is fun once again and there is no issue with *lost* enemies like in some other FPS games.

Hmm... I think I will take a break from it for now. I just finished chapter 1, and they just did one of the things I hate the most - have the player character be defeated in a cut scene by something we all know he could beat in gameplay. "Oh no, there's a bunch of german soldiers at the door! I guess I'll just get captured now, it's not like I dispatched entire armies already and could easily shove a bunch of grenades up their collective ass from where I'm standing!"

Don't get me wrong, I still think very highly of the game, and I'll be back to it, but I just hate this particular thing. A pet peeve of mine. And I think playing it in chunks will be better anyway.
I highly recommend turning "film grain" & "motion blur" OFF... unless you like that stuff. Motion blur DOES help the feel when you turn if you're suffering from poor frame rates.

How can I turn it off please, the frigging motion blur???

Thanks a ton! I wonder how I missed it.
I just found the super secret Easter egg in the final mission of chapter 3 and it's amazing! I did not expect a Realms of Arkania (Das Schwarze Auge) reference in this game. It's a beautiful, nostalgic flashback.

Damn, now I want to play Star Trail again!

I found it too! Finished the game just a few minutes ago.

The final fights are really, really hard, imo. I'm grateful for the special mission now, for... "reasons". Let's say it will help a lot eventually.
Yep. I just finished the game as well. It was a very good experience throughout. Some pitfalls, not being able to find things sometimes, a few niggly bugs here and there, fog being highly annoying. And the final battles are not explained. I spent ages just to find out you have to right click and use sword! Overall though it’s quite an achievement. The amount of effort put in to create each of the huge and varied levels shows a lot of effort has gone in.
Now then, when is the sequel coming out!!

Yep, apparently it's to GOG forum what Fortnite is to the rest of the world :D

Just goes to show that we do not fit into the rest of the world: couldn't possibly be any less in interested in Fortnite, but a WW2 MOD for a 27 year old game? Bring it on!
But not that that is a bad thing, in fact it might even be a mark of sanity xP

That's why that secret was so familiar!
