There's no defense against FREE stuff

Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten, the witty tower-defense/RPG, has just been delux-ified with a free update that brings HD graphics, new content, and tons of nice tweaks!

So you loved the crazy antics of Azra, as she made her way through the Half-Way World, right? But you have to realise that, however fabulous her adventure was, it didn't look nearly as good as it does nowadays. Oh no sir.

See, the DX update brings a beautified, thoroughly enriched version of the tale that you should definitely discover or even revisit anew. Here are some highlights:

- All new HD graphics
- No more Adobe Air shenanigans
- New Game+ with expanded story content
- Access to Azra's journal right from the start

Those who already own the game, get Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten DX for free. Nostalgics, or people who simply don't want to let go, can choose to keep playing the "legacy" version, although the super-spiffy DX version also allows you to import your saves and continue your adventure in a snap.
What are you waiting for, then?

Hmm. Lars has a distinct lack of orangeness.
Linux version, Air free and original art option. Will pick this up once I play through Homeworld.
YAY! Non-Flash! Linux! This is great! No I can't stop shouting, why to you ask?!
For a sec I thought the second game had been released. Does anybody have a fridge to store my excitement?

I presume saves aren't transferable?

Edit: Serves me right for not reading the entire blurb. Yes, they are transferable!

That's great, played through the original version years ago and had a lot of fun with it. A thanks and a cheers to the developer for still supporting this game and the people who play it.

PS: Also, watch the trailer ET3D linked, it's hilarious:

I have to revisit the game soon!
Just played for an hour on a new game - my old save files had been wiped some time ago - and I had to make myself stop. Heh. Lars and crew did a really nice job on updating DQ. Kudos.

That's nice, thanks for the update.
Oh geezus not again. I once went on a 12 hour bender of this game on a weekday, and went into work completely wrecked due to my lack of sleep. Now I get to look forward to that all over again, and with HD graphics!

I blame YOU, Lars! :P
Probably not going to play the DX version, but having seen the what's new video I feel that my life is now complete, and I have a great desire to shower the devs with money. Well, a minor desire at least. Oh, it passed. Never mind, it still left a "video of the day" tumor in my brain.
I was actually rather disappointed by the game when I played it (I preferred the Cursed Treasure games on Kongregate for RPG Tower Defense), but I'll try out the update.
Cool. Now let's see if we can convince Renegade Kid to finally give GOG the deluxe version they promised so long ago.
