There's no defense against FREE stuff

Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten, the witty tower-defense/RPG, has just been delux-ified with a free update that brings HD graphics, new content, and tons of nice tweaks!

So you loved the crazy antics of Azra, as she made her way through the Half-Way World, right? But you have to realise that, however fabulous her adventure was, it didn't look nearly as good as it does nowadays. Oh no sir.

See, the DX update brings a beautified, thoroughly enriched version of the tale that you should definitely discover or even revisit anew. Here are some highlights:

- All new HD graphics
- No more Adobe Air shenanigans
- New Game+ with expanded story content
- Access to Azra's journal right from the start

Those who already own the game, get Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten DX for free. Nostalgics, or people who simply don't want to let go, can choose to keep playing the "legacy" version, although the super-spiffy DX version also allows you to import your saves and continue your adventure in a snap.
What are you waiting for, then?

tinyE: So just redownload and it will be there?

Grargar: The new version is now the main download. The old one is now an extra.
I'm glad that you can still download the old version. I'll have a look at that HD version once i played through the old one. :D

Pretty sure the HD version lets you use the old art if you want to.
So you could just switch.
Just downloaded and installed the DX version and it looks good so far -however, it did not import my achievements ; I hadn't accumulated many admittedly but I'd prefer it if they were imported as well. Is there an option to import them that I've missed?

edit-it saw some of the achievements at least as soon as I actually clicked Play on the imported save file... So I guess I'm fine...

Many thanks for the update! Now it works on Linux too. :)
I have the total respect for the dev. Such a small team, led by an awesome guy, enriching already released game by so many things. Be it accessibility, solid multiplatform support, HD upgrade with backward support, released in all stores on Day 1, etc.

I can't wait for the sequel which I already pre-ordered, of course :).
I don't see those changes reported in a changelog on the game page on the Library.

That's because they weren't.
Much respect to the devs for continuing to work on this after nearly 4 years. Seems like the perfect opportunity to finally play it. *downloading* :)
Just as a heads up, Galaxy decided that it wanted to "update" my DX version of the game back to the original AIR-based app. Fantastic.

That should not happen. When did you have the update? We have the new AIR-less version available via Galaxy. Can you try "Verify & Repair"?

Ah, how do I recognize that I have the DX - version installed. In Galaxy it says version 1.0.1 and I also tried "Verify & Repair" but it didn't work.

They added a new cool version and switched the old one as an extra. I believe that should count as a change. How am I supposed to know when the file I can download changed if is not reported and notified?

The new version is on the left and the old version is on the right
That made me realize that I lost all saves because it's another game that keep saved games in AppData... I don't get why they do that... sigh...

Okay, thanks for the clarification.
