There's no defense against FREE stuff

Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten, the witty tower-defense/RPG, has just been delux-ified with a free update that brings HD graphics, new content, and tons of nice tweaks!

So you loved the crazy antics of Azra, as she made her way through the Half-Way World, right? But you have to realise that, however fabulous her adventure was, it didn't look nearly as good as it does nowadays. Oh no sir.

See, the DX update brings a beautified, thoroughly enriched version of the tale that you should definitely discover or even revisit anew. Here are some highlights:

- All new HD graphics
- No more Adobe Air shenanigans
- New Game+ with expanded story content
- Access to Azra's journal right from the start

Those who already own the game, get Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten DX for free. Nostalgics, or people who simply don't want to let go, can choose to keep playing the "legacy" version, although the super-spiffy DX version also allows you to import your saves and continue your adventure in a snap.
What are you waiting for, then?

Yoohoo!!! Welcome, Linux version! Good riddance, AdobeAIR!
Nice! I love the game. The new version seems to be a good opportunity to replay it once again.

Thank you, Lars!

Yes. Adobe AIR should be completely eradicated.
Big thanks to the devs !
Yeah, big thanks for the free update. I will download and install to see how it plays ;-)
Hooray! I was patiently waiting for this update so I could play the game again. I'm also very much looking forward to the sequel.

MacArthur: That means that Defenders Quest 2 is near its release, no ?
'Nearer' is more like it as they were still working on completing the alpha phase last time I checked their progress tracker.

I checked their progress last week to see the status of DQ2 and how far they were with the DQ HD remake. I saw nothing about the the remake so this came by surprise. Did they announce it somewhere?
The Linux version works flawlessly... except that it crashes when trying to get the "Book of Secrets" and "Book of Face" goodies:

xdg-open: unexpected argument '&'
Try 'xdg-open --help' for more information.
Is it a game bug, or something caused by GOG's packaging? Should I contact Lars?
This is how a remaster should be made: as an update and with the possibility of playing the original version, not as a totally new version to scrap the old coverage.

Anyway, it might be a good idea to update or add new screenshots. It might be an omission, though, seeing as the first trailer features the "deluxified" art style.

Nope, that tracker seems to have been stuck at three points away from completion for the last few weeks, and then BAM! It's here. ;)
Thank you! =)
Thank you for this nice update ! (even if I love more the old graphics ;))
I really love this game... I'll have to finish it again now :)
