Arteveld: Too bad the bed is bugged.
I mean, clearly it's a bugger in SMP, time warp, etc. But in SSP, the time compression works wonky. I've thought of waiting out, until my furnace does all my iron. Well, i've placed my ore and coal in and slowly went to bed. When i woke up i had 1 iron ore done. Kinda disappointing.
I don't think that's a bug, that's by design. It doesn't send you forward in time, it sends the entire world. Hence, your furnace will not have smelted anything more when you wake up than when you went to bed, because it came forward in time with you.

It's illogical if you compare it to the real world, but then so are most things in Minecraft. I think it works well. And in multiplayer too.

Then it's sole purpose would be skipping the night, which is meh'ish. But i guess Mojang will put some more thought into that.

Not really illogical, but ok.
It glitches out in MP. See, if one person goes to bed at nightfall, what happens with/to the other players?
From the MC wiki's Version History:

Beds allow the player to skip to the next dawn. In SMP, this will only happen when all players sleep.

I have tried it and it worked. I haven't experienced the bug you mention.

It doesn't seem to work. Go to minecraft.net, choose to play the Browser version, and let it finish updating. Play offline with your client as normal, and you'll have all the new features. You may have to try it more than once, you'll know it 'took' if you see option on the map selection screen.

Well, there's no need to download the new client. If you log on with the old one, it'll update itself. At least mine did.

And if You guys ever get interested in the "seed" option, this little app will tell You the seed of Your world [helpful when You've used a random one].
Cool, now i can share my world with friends easy.

Yeah I built a massive lighthouse, with the top being an orb made of glass, and stuffed with burning logs, to help me find my way about at night. The orb's still there, but it's now empty :(

Oh well thankfully I have crap-tons of glowstones.
