Runehamster: Amen.

I've got a billion stacks of cobblestone from all the mining I'm doing. I should probably do something with all this. Build a castle or something. Anyone have ideas for a unique castle? I have miner's block. (hee, that's like a triple pun or something, a record).

edit: Hmm, never mind. I think I know what I'm going to do.

eyeball226: I like to smelt it back into solid stone and then build things with that.
I like doing that to accent doorframes for things made out of wood or cobblestone :D

I'm also looking forward to trying the new sandstone. With sandstone, cobblestone, smoothstone, obsidian, and brick, castles should be getting pretty fancy!

Is it true brick won't explode if a creeper blows up near it?
My first piece of pixel art is almost done.
Well, almost if we disregard that black wool seems to be about as rare as diamonds. :/

Neat! :D

bansama: But does someone know of a decent (easy to use/install) mod for the current version that allows time to be manipulated? As I tend to only play peaceful mode while exploring/building (single player) night time is pointless...
Here are a few I found.
Scroll the Sky
zombe's modpack
Seronis' Mods

Scroll the Sky is probably the easiest to install and use, I haven't tried the others.

According to the wiki, brick has the same resistance as cobblestone, so no. For explosion proofing, obsidian is the way to go.
Water can also shield from explosions, but it's probably more practical to just build a moat.

Thank you! And yes, I must build a moat. Handcarrying all that water's going to be so much fun! ;P

The quirks of Minecraft's water physics will let you take a few shortcuts:)

Scroll the Sky apparently no longer works. But the Sun option in Zombe's pack works wonders. Thanks. Minecraft now infinitely more enjoyable =)

How did you get it to work? I can't figure it out.

Follow the instructions in the read me file to add the required files to the minecraft.jar and don't forget to uncomment "modSunEnabled = yes" in the config.txt file that you should have placed in the mods/zombe folder.

Then use the keys listed in that same file.

I did all that but must have done something wrong since nothing happened.

Then I haven't a clue =/ Sorry.

So now I sort of got it working. I can stop time and set it back to normal, but I can't add or subtract it.

That's...interesting o.o

Actually, I think I know how to do my moat quickly now, thanks!
Some of you folks might know I made myself a texture pack, and that it's based on the Ultima series of games.

However, it's recently been updated, and uploaded to Ultima Aiera where it is being very kindly hosted.

Check it out, and let me know what you think!
(If anyone has the previous version (1.2) the new version is 1.5; It's a standard 16x16 texture pack, and works on the latest minecraft version 1.2_02)
