Oh nice! What's he changed, I didn't see anything on tumblr earlier.

edit: Derp, that doesn't mean there's nothing there NOW.

Well, i know there are music blocks. But the first new thing i saw within the game, are new trees! As an addition to Your classic brown bark trees, we now have birches. Kinda cool, can't wait to see how well it makes into a cabin!:>
Daaaang awesome! I wonder if the wood's different :D

Huh...I'll have to switch back to classic, I guess my Painterly Pack won't work anymore :P
I think they just look different.

Yeah, it's just a skin change. But that said I haven't noticed any large birch trees.

On that note: black sheeps! Finally sheep brothers get some respect.

On a slightly less positive note the game now runs like crap for me without the frame limiter on. Not the end of the world. But I don't need another bug when I've got two major ones to deal with.

He forgot debug on (Yeah, I know) and 1.2.01 will be out soon to fix that

Phew!

Also: octopus and fir tree screens. EDIT: you can harvest ink sacks from octopuses. Interesting...

Brown mushrooms don't seem to attach to the ground anymore. There also seem to be arches between hills and pools of lava on the ground. I haven't seen lava pools on the surface before. Arches aren't that new, but they didn't seem so deliberate before.

It seems every monster spawner now has a small rotating demon inside... probably to indicate which type of monster is spawned near it.

Ever tried setting javaw.exe on high priority? I couldn't play alpha without that. Especially SMP.
You can actually craft flowers into colored powder now. Not sure what ink sacs are for yet.

Thanks! That's a big improvement.

Some kind of new dark blue ore. Blue stone? It's about the same depth as the red stone.

The game still crashes out for me. I wish these problems were resolved rather than focussing on new content.

You're welcome. ;)

Blue stone perhaps?;]
Damn!

I was about 2/3 of the way through an Ultima-based texture pack, and now I've got a whole bunch of other stuff to mod.

Hopefully I can keep up with the updates...

Well, Notch spent a lot of Alpha fixing bugs instead of adding new content, so I guess he's going to spend Beta adding content instead of fixing bugs ^^

Those crazy Norwegians! :D

Which is unfortunate given that there are some major ones left in there.
