Playing some catch up now, starting around post 70. Looks like Things Have Happened (TM). I'll make my comments as I go along, and I probably won't add many "I think this too" statements if someone already said what I might have said. I'll think them though!
-------------
dedoporno: So shut up about game mechanics, as well? That's fine by me. What do you suggest we do instead?
TwilightBard: It's simply too early to make even a remotely educated guess, and wild speculation is extremely dangerous. As to what I suggest? We scumhunt, we play the game.
Although, I have to admit, it strikes me as odd that a townie would be more interested in the mechanics...that's something the Mafia would find FAR more useful so they can figure out how to game the system.
It seems to me that town would find the mechanics to be
at least as useful as scum, since townies can use it for process of elimination (scum presumably already know who the scum are). Mechanics seems like a key part of scum hunting; a townie that doesn't know cops give false reads every third day is hurt a lot more than a scum is helped by knowing the same.
-------------
dedoporno: From the OP I'm more inclined to suspect that abilities may shift overnight from one player to another, or just appear/disappear. Maybe from a set pool of possible powers.
Krypsyn: Talking about various points in the set-up to determine what we might be up against is one thing, but I don't really want to talk about potential abilities. That is an easy way for scum to glean information. I figure much more will be clearer on all counts after at least one Night has gone by, and then we will be in a better position to possibly revisit such discussions.
I generally find myself agreeing with dedoporno on this one (oh noez, player link? o.o). He (and I) are interested in variations on powers, not in who may or may not have what particular powers (that comes later). And knowing that someone (regardless of who) might be able to do one thing one day, but someone else can do it the next day, seems like
really important information for town.
-------------
dedoporno: My question "what then?" still stands. Generic answers as "we find scum and lynch them", although may seem like the right and Townie thing to say, are useless. Pretty much every game-related topic seems to be a taboo, even though I'm sure some of the people behind the shushing are just trying to look good. Not talking / lurking is equally frowned upon. What then?
This. We can joke around, we can speculate, we can level wild accusations, we can try to figure out what we know for sure. Programmer that I am, I like that last one.
-------------
Sage103082: Scum will take any and all information that is dropped and use it if they can. I think we need to see what is going on and how things are going to work before we start just handing information over for anyone to use.
Then do we just wait for nightfall? Assuming only one anti-town team, then scum already has exactly what they need in order to win (identies of their targets). Town has to give out information, or we are just a bunch of individuals waiting to get killed.
-------------
CSPVG: Well, this isn't the way I would have liked us to come out of RVS, but I guess we don't really get to choose. At this stage, discussions about the mechanics of the game are fairly pointless. All we have to go on at the moment are the number of players and the flavour. The former gives us only scant information and the latter, while fun, is usually not too revealing until later on (or never, if the moderator does not give a fig about such material*).
Having said this, I do find the suggestion that we may have powers that shift from night to night quite interesting. I don't think this is true, but it seems an oddly specific suggestion. What led you lot to believe this may be the case?
*I am not suggesting this is the case in this game.
Easy answer: the last paragraph of OP:
Lifthrasil: Additionally, some of you feel, that they have been changed by the last emission. They feel new powers coursing through their veins. But you also feel, that such powers come at a price and, with the unsteady nature of the Zone, may not be there to stay. The next emission might change everything and who knows what tomorrow will bring?
Read post 108 (dedo), and he goes ahead and answers it.
-------------
CSPVG: I, at this point, suggest that we list our three scummiest players. Yes, I know that this is still very early on in the game. I am not, however, requesting that you all give detail explanations as to why, merely that you give us a gut reaction to the situation.
Need to finish catching up first, and see if this is still what we are doing.
-------------
dedoporno: No need for clarification, at least on my side. I suggest we leave that conversation for another time, though. We may end up disclosing sensitive information. We can get back to it at a later stage.
HypersomniacLive: I'm not sure we're having the same conversation. My point is that if anyone is unclear or uncertain about anything in their role PM, they can always ask our mod for clarification, instead of speculating here.
Except...maybe a few certain questions weren't clarified (beyond a "maybe, maybe not :D").
-------------
Lifthrasil: And then there is a mystical Monolith rumored to be hidden deep in the Nuclear Power Plant and there are some religious fanatics revering that Monolith. They are the only humans in the game, who are not killed or zombified by the emissions and by the Brain Scorcher and they are hostile to every other faction in the game.
"For CHAAOOOSSSSS!" - Cultist, Dawn of War
Lifthrasil: That's why I wrote in the opening post, that the fact that someone apparently was not knocked out during the last emission leads to the conclusion, that someone (or several someones) is among you, who is immune against the Emission - and that immunity has up to now only be seen in Monolith followers.
Flavor note: If we're all there, and only cultists managed to stay awake, and I were a cultist, I'd have just slit the throat of every non-cultist and simply returned the heart. But that's just me.
-------------
trentonlf: When it is stated by someone that they are unsure if this is a role madness game or not that is clearly saying "I am Town with a power role" or "I am scum hoping to get others to talk about roles" <more>
Not true. I had numerous "What about this scenario" questions occur to me while observing last mafia game, some of which I was pretty sure would have gotten me marked as scum regardless of my actual alignment.
I know that I, for one, would love to know whether this is a role madness type game, regardless of my role (even if vanilla) or alignment.

Lifthrasil: ****************************************************************
While everyone is busy discussing how to proceed, ddickinson has wandered off alone. Deep in thoughts, she strayed too far to the edges of the swamp. Suddenly the air crackles and a lightning discharge out of nowhere hits ddickinson and she drops unconciously to the ground. Looks like she stombled into an electromagnetic Anomaly. Will she come to her senses again? Or did the Anomaly already kill her? Only time will tell, because it would be very dangerous to go near her to check, as long as the Anomaly persists.
****************************************************************
Ah, so that's what this is about. Noticed it when I was backtracking, wasn't sure if she was getting a power, night had fallen or what. Looks like setup for a potential modkill.
Read post 127 (Lift): Yay, I was right!
-------------
RWarehall: Dedoporno - nothing in my PM implies at all that roles might change. Since I have a town PM, I'll assume other town PM's are likely similar (or at least more similar than a scum PM). Given Dedo's confusion, I have him more likely leaning scum.
I went and re-read my PM, and you're right, it doesn't indicate possibly changing powers. Something else Lift said did though, but he might have just been screwing with me as we bantered. Or who knows? Maybe its just an excuse to re-assign a power role if the person gets mod-killed day one (like ddickinson might be. Haven't caught up yet so I don't know if she is still in the game).
-------------
Sage103082: Bookwyrm627 - For thinking ahead about role speculation. He is looking forward to learning new information?
I don't know enough to win right now, so yep, I'm definitely looking forward to learning new information. Those who don't think ahead and behind those that do, and I'd love to be one step ahead of scum. Of course, maybe I'm painting too big a target on my back; something is itching back there.
-------------
Okay, lets see if I can fit all this in one post.
I'll have to think about my list of three; the only name I've got down is Kryspyn, but that's because I mis-interpreted his FoS as a second vote on someone (rationally I don't hold it against him, I just need to finish informing the other part now). Maybe Hijack on account of his defensiveness?
No one really stands out yet.
<Screw it, too much happening right now for me to review my post before posting. If you see something wrong with it, let me know and I'll try to address it. Laziness may well be the death of me.>
