GamezRanker: K

Btw, is the above feeling just gut feeling, or do you have more reasons to suspect them? Also do you suspect anyone else atm...if so, then who and why?
(pardon if you already answered these...I tend to skim sometimes and also forget other times what people have previously said. If you already answered such things, point to your post/posts where you did so and I will read them)
Multiple reasons and I'll list them

1. Lift knows I have a tactical style of play and try to coach the Liberal team as Liberal because he's played against me before and has seen me do the exact same thing as Liberal. Yet he sees it as an indication that I am fascist.

2. Lift accuses me of being fascist for stating that I'm Liberal. ZFR does the exact same thing, yet no reaction from Lift. This is inconsistent and illogical.

3. Lift is supposedly trying to solve the game and that's why he supposedly is picking up on my game chat. However Lift accuses me on page 2 of being fascist for stating I'd like the next President to pick me and that was the only way I'd vote. However I'd already stated this on page 1 and Lift doesn't pick up on it, why is this? It can only because Lift is only skimreading or cherry picking text. This means he isn't thoroughly reading and analysing all of my text. So how can he be trying to analyse me if he isn't reading everything I write? He's either a lazy liberal or far more likely a fascist that is cherry picking text that he think makes me look fascist. What makes the lazy liberal theory less plausible is that Lift has a very analytical career as a physicist.

4. Secret Hitler is about solving the game based on new information. Lift has said he will never vote for my government. There is nothing I can do convince Lift that I am Liberal despite the fact I am Liberal. Why is this? It's because Lift isn't trying to solve the game, instead he's trying to take a Liberal out of contention to be either President or Chancellor.

Conclusion Lift is fascist

Lifthrasil: Voting NO on the first proposed government can only have one of three reasons:
1. you seriously mistrust one or both of the players due to how they behaved.
2. you are a selfish player who tries to resort to blackmail and doesn't vote YES unless he is nominated himself.
3. you are a Fascist and all your buddies are towards the end of the line, so you have to prevent some governments to have a chance to get one of you into office.

So the decision what to vote should be easy.
Perhaps you want to make your own choices so when somebody tells you the only choice is yes you choose to vote no?
avatar
JoeSapphire: OKay I get the point of scene's question. If a president gets LLF and decides to test the chancellor, but nobody trusts the result of the test anyway then the risk was for nothing.
It's definitely a hard choice, but I think if we do not force fascists to conflict we relegate our chances of victory to the hope that both the deck and the government seats are stacked in our favor. You know well how the deck favors fascists, the presidential seats are random, and the chancellors (for liberal presidents) are picked based on limited info and sometimes poorly chosen. Liberals can't simply let their [ our (INB4 accusations of "LAMISL") ] fate to luck.

Microfish_1: In a game with an odd number of players, it would be just "refusing to be the tie-breaker"
avatar
ZFR: That "refusal" is still an effective No. So not a refusal.
Agreed. It doesn't matter the situation, whether one votes NO or abstains themselves the outcome will be exactly the same. So having abstention is pointless.

avatar
supplementscene: That wasn't my question but we'd have a degree of trust to the chancellor playing the liberal policy

My question was, we have a conflict with the following parameters:

A) The President claims he received BBR (2 Liberal Policies and 1 Fascist)
B) The Chancellor claims he received RR (2 Fascist policies)
C) On the end of the deck count we only have 4-5 Liberal policies accounted for

In this event do we consider the President to be the very likely Liberal in the conflict? We then can use him as a Chancellor in Hitler zone
I see. Yes, that is an angle that hadn't been touched upon and worth thinking about when we arrive in hitler zone. I'd have to see how the game progressed up until that point to decide if you're right, and we should also be careful that said person must not be hitler.

joppo: I'd like to hear more from you. You had only a post so far, close to the beginning of the game. Lots of things have happened since.
avatar
Cadaver747: Hear more from me? You must be jest, you can't want to hear more from me since I have not spoken anything (game related)
Yes, I was hoping you'd admit that (publicly or to your own mind) yourself; and that it would start the content you usually bring whenever you play. Apparently I succeeded.

Unless ABSTAINS are not counted to the total, so for example:

4x YES
3x NO
3x ABSTAIN

Does this pass or not? This is the point I want a definite clarification on.

(As far as I understand the rules, it shouldn't, but I'd rather have a confirmation now).

You must be jest, you can't want to hear more from me since I have not spoken anything (game related) unless of course we count my introductory post about lack of rules knowledge base and something unspecified resting time. I'm afraid that I can't procure anything spectacular since I haven't been around all this time (really sorry for that).

Allow me to bear (in mind) a few more (a couple more) hours and I assure you I would be most pleased to satisfy your deepest desires the best way possible.

Cheers,
Yours truly

P.S. This is the second time I visit this thread.
avatar
Lifthrasil: Then you should visit the thread more. Also, how do you know what joppo's deepest desires are?

But if you haven't cast your vote yet, please do so. It's the first proposed government, so it should be voted into office so that we can start testing people. Unless you have a good reason to mistrust both Joppo and Maxleod.

Objection! Leading.

Sustained.

Hypothetically, if you were fascist, wouldn't you do the "exact same thing" to appear liberal?
What is the "Hitler zone"? Enough Fs passed and electing Hitler as chancellor would end the game?

Yes

ZFR: Hypothetically, if you were fascist, wouldn't you do the "exact same thing" to appear liberal?
To some extent. But in 6v4 game as a fascist I believe fascists are reliant on:

A) silent dropping
B) 3 fascist deck policies naturally dropping

Fascists can't really afford many conflicts. Imagine a scenario where you have 4 conflicts. You have 2 confirmed Liberals in a 6v4, where as in a 5v4 game you have only 1 confirmed Liberal and he has to solve maybe multiple conflicts in order to win. Even if you have 2 conflicts, you have 2 fascists versus 4 liberals.

So on that basis, in a 6v4 scenario I'd want as many fascist presidents as possible to get into power. Limiting presidential touches doesn't help that scenario.

I think that would pass, yes, but I'd need to run a simulation or have Pooka chime in here.

So, I "abstained" on 3 votes, voted yes on 4 votes, and no on 3 votes; the script did not calculate the abstained votes and did not advance to dealing the cards

IOW, an abstention did not count either way.
+++++++++++
I was hoping it would invalidate a player's vote, eg a mechanism for turning a 10 player game into a 9 player game in the sudden absence of someone, but that is not how this script is coded. Oh well.

Also, ties go in the F's favor.

supplementscene: Because all Liberals won't vote the same way as me but all fascists may vote down a government of 2 Liberals.
Tbh, I don't think F players would be so dumb as to all(or maybe even mostly) vote no on all L governments.
(of course, I have little experience in this game, so take the above with that in mind)

Well to be fair, you could use the above(your usual style of play/etc) to hide as an F team member.
(of course, the same could be said of myself and everyone else)

Agreed on the ZFR thing, which is why I called it out earlier in the game.
(I don't believe I got a reply, but I believe Lift answered another player on the same matter awhile back)

Yes, Lift is likely busy IRL on a regular basis......which could(key word) also be a reason why he is possibly skimming posts.

Ties go in the fascists favour? Given that we are given the results of the vote, we will know a president is fascist on the even of a tie won't we?

That's the same as #2

I won't be available much throughout the weekend. One of our daughters has her confirmation tomorrow and today we are busy with preparations.

I don't know what that means but I hope it goes in the best possible way.

@Micro, how are those votes going? Are we close to any sort of resolution on the current nominated government?
