This is still happening to me.

Running GOG 1.2.9.

Witcher 3 initially launched fine, but crashed during the opening cutscenes, now when It ry to launch the game, I get a black screen for a few seconds and then nothing. Game is running in the background, unable to maximize.

Doesn't work by using the .EXE either.

I will try downloading the non-gog version, but cloud saves were the entire point :(

UPDATE: The game works if you disable cloud saves in GOG.

Update 2: Nevermind, still broken...

If the game works launched using .EXE with Galaxy Client closed, this is not a GOG Galaxy related problem then.

Downloading "non-gog" version will most probably not help as it's the same version. :)

You can try this in Galaxy: MORE->Manage installation->Fix/Verify to check if it will fix something for you or not.
The Witcher 3 will not launch either through GOG or by using the .exe file (C:\GOG Games\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Complete Edition\bin\x64\witcher3.exe). I have tried running as administrator. Nothing happens.

I have tried going to GOG, More, Manage Installation to verify/repair, but that option is grayed out.

Is there a workaround for this issue?

I would appreciate any help.

Can you put a screenshot of that (grayed out Verify/Repair with all the context around) here? I wonder if GOG Galaxy recognizes the game as installed at all.

You can always contact our support: https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/categories/201400969 - they provide technical support for game, you can find common issues there too.
yeah i am having the same problem i was playing the witcher 3 fine this morning but now when i am trying to play nothing loads up a black screen loads of for a second then closes?
Exactly the same is happening to me. It worked before, now suddenly game crashes to desktop. I don't even get to see the black screen. It just blinks for a moment.

What I tried (these do not work):
- Disabling Cloud Saves
- Renaming galaxy.dll inside Witcher 3 folder
- Restoring nvidia 3d settings (as proposed on support page)
- Starting witcher 3 directly without gog
- Starting witcher 3 as admin
- Deleting saved games inside Documents

has anyone been able to fix this problem
I was able to fix the issue by:

- Removing Geforce Experience
- Removing profile in nvidia profile inspector (for Witcher 3)
- And creating new nvidia profile inspector

Jadek44300: Yeah, don't use the gog application right now. To play the game properly, go to the .exe application here : C/program Files/GOG galaxy/Games/TheWitcher3/bin/x64/witcher3.exe.

Yeah, i am sure CD projekt will solve that problem very soon. Especially with Witcher 3. aha.

Johny.: GOG will solve that problem soon. :) It's not trivial, so it might be a few days of waiting...

I'm very sorry that happened. :(

The original bug I was writing about, for TW3 increasing memory to maximum after starting and crashing - related to overlay being enabled/disabled in Galaxy - was fixed few days after the report.
Hey guys , I also cannot run the game anymore :(

Specs 1080 GTX 16 GB Ram, i72600k@4,5GhZ, Win10

I was able to play it a month ago without any problem . Today I wanted do play the game for one or two hours but it crashed immediately after launching it. Blackscreen , intro music, --> crash :(

I hope there will be a fix soon.

I also reinstalled the nvidia driver and the game, didn't change anything.
I installed the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt GOY Edition yesterday. Tried running it form GOG Galaxy, won't start. Also tried as a standalone without any success. Tried the "MORE > MANAGE INSTALLATION > VERIFY/REPAIR" but no improvement. I have uninstalled and re-installed Galaxy. this is very frustrating, gonna ask for a refund since I have never been able to play the game. I believe Paypal protects you for 6 months from date of purchase for those out there feeling the same way, I've heard of people waiting for months for a fix so I figure there is not going to be a solution to this problem in the near future.
I tried all the solutions here but didnt solve it. But i manage to fixed it by downgrading my gpu driver from 385 ver to 381. Hope this helps.

Game has been running fine, until this morning. It tries to load, syncs with the cloud, and then does nothing. I tried disabling the cloud feature. No help. Tried loading the game with the exe file, but get a message that: The Witcher3 Wild Hunt GOTY\bin/x64\GFSDK SSAD.win64.ddll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Any ideas?
Same thing that happens to me. Try what i did downgrading your gpu driver maybe it will also work.
