Master of Orion 1+2, Rollercoaster Tycoon series, Blood 1&2, and other timeless Atari classics 60% off!

There's a few companies out there that contributed as much to the evolution of computer games as Atari did. In the 8-bit era their games and hardware helped to define the course for electronic entertainment, and gave us one of the first successful home consoles dedicated to gaming. In time, the brand went through many changes, as it adapted new roles in the ever-changing landscape of the games industry. In whatever form--it always existed, and soldiered on, whatever the odds. as one of the few constants. Today, we want to celebrate this pioneering label. Here's our [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/atari_weekend_promo_220313]Atari! Atari Promo!

It's just amazing to see how many excellent titles that we offer you comes from Atari! Such classics as Master of Orion 1+2, and Master of Magic, one of the most memorable strategy games of all times, or Star Control 1+2, a space opera that kept us playing for weeks--that's in the oldies department. There's also and [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/blood_2_the_chosen_expansion]Blood 2: The Chosen, two gore-fest games that put many horror shooters to shame up to this day. All those, and many, many more games are available 60% off this weekend. Check the Atari! Atari promo page to see the whole list. The promo lasts until Tuesday, March 26, at 5:59AM GMT.

tinyE: 1) I've been itching to grab one of the 'Roller Coaster' games but I'm not good at sims AND away from that I'm curious which of the three people would call the better.
I would go with Roller 2 as it has more rides, features, shops and includes a scenario editor to make your own parks. Roller 1 had Mega Park with was good, but it can be easily re-created on Roller 2 scenario editor. If you like a more modern look go with Roller 3. I prefer Rolly 2

2 seems to be favored by people who never played 1 and that would be me. I'm shit with numbers and I really just want to play with cool setups and rides and crap...call me Mr. Maturity! Anyway, 2 looks like the better game for that. Thanks.

Now if I can just get a few more ops on Cooper's Revenge I can get back to spending all my money and get on with my life. :P

The "more rides" are a bit illusory because they grabbed the ones from RCT1 and dismembered them (many rides in 1 have more than a type of vehicle, in 2 they created a separated ride for every vehicle type)
Oh god no, I've started a Roller Coaster Tycoon war! :O

Don't worry, the maximum we can do is crashing coasters and drowning guests...

I vaguely prefer the first one out of nostalgia, but from a completely objective point of view I should point out that you can download every single scenario from the first game to play in the second one. More info here.

As for whether or not you should buy it? I love the game to death, but I like sim games quite a bit too. It's fairly simple even if you don't really know or care about how to run a business, and you can always just make a scenario (in the second game only) with the "no money" option ticked if you just want to goof around.

True..

Also, tinyE look at the expansion packs for the rolly games, they may influence your decision.

Big +1 for the link; I don't suppose you know how to add those to the game? :D

Not sure, to be honest. I have something like fifteen copies of the first game lying around so I've never really needed to try the fan remake scenarios. I assume you just unzip and copy all the scenario files into the Roller Coaster Tycoon 2/Scenarios folder.

And why do I have fifteen copies? For some reason, around the time the second game came out, the first one was included for free in cereal boxes. And I eat a lot of cereal. Worked out well, every time I lose my disc I just grab another off the stack. Or download my GOG copy, I suppose.

Your avatar looks like it's from South Park, but isn't Peanut a turd on that show?

No idea on the turdiness of anyone on South Park, but the avatar isn't from there. It's not from anywhere, actually, just a doodle made by a friend quite a few years ago.

As for the name, I just saw a jar of peanut brittle in my friend's kitchen when I was impulsively trying to buy NWN from GOG so we could co-op; I never really planned to continue to buy more (or join the forum). I requested a change from GOG a long time ago and they asked for me to verify myself with a receipt ID, but never followed up after I did so. I just decided not to bother after a while, peanut brittle is a perfectly fine food to associate with.

But that's enough of an origin story, someone tell me whether or not Silver is worth picking up!

I've 'heard' that it looks and sounds great but the AI can be really stupid. That's not a breaking point for me but I've already got so many top down RPG games, if I bought it I'd never actually get to it.
