Master of Orion 1+2, Rollercoaster Tycoon series, Blood 1&2, and other timeless Atari classics 60% off!

There's a few companies out there that contributed as much to the evolution of computer games as Atari did. In the 8-bit era their games and hardware helped to define the course for electronic entertainment, and gave us one of the first successful home consoles dedicated to gaming. In time, the brand went through many changes, as it adapted new roles in the ever-changing landscape of the games industry. In whatever form--it always existed, and soldiered on, whatever the odds. as one of the few constants. Today, we want to celebrate this pioneering label. Here's our [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/atari_weekend_promo_220313]Atari! Atari Promo!

It's just amazing to see how many excellent titles that we offer you comes from Atari! Such classics as Master of Orion 1+2, and Master of Magic, one of the most memorable strategy games of all times, or Star Control 1+2, a space opera that kept us playing for weeks--that's in the oldies department. There's also and [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/blood_2_the_chosen_expansion]Blood 2: The Chosen, two gore-fest games that put many horror shooters to shame up to this day. All those, and many, many more games are available 60% off this weekend. Check the Atari! Atari promo page to see the whole list. The promo lasts until Tuesday, March 26, at 5:59AM GMT.

Is there any way to run Silver at a higher resolution without tinkering with the ini files and stuff?
Decisions, decisions. Just about every weekend this year has been full of good choices to pick from. So to that end, if someone has the time and/or inclination to answer a couple questions...

1. If you can only pick one, Star Control 1/2, SC 3 or MoO 1/2? SC 2 seems to get the best reviews of that series but the comments for MoO are out of this world so to speak. So I imagine the better question would be SC 1/2 or MoO 1/2?

2. Does Pirates Gold stand the test of time? Me and my roommates back in the day had great fun with it but I'm thinking back on it with nostalgic glasses and don't think it would be as engaging today. So, if anyone owns it, does it sit in your library or do any of you with a decent sized collection still play it in your rotation?

I'm definitely getting MoM and Darklands this promo. Darklands had to be set aside during its most recent promo but it makes the cut in this one. I've kept myself to buying a certain number of games per week and per month this year and with 8 days yet to go in March, I'll be at that number and not gonna break my resolution 3 months in.
So, if any of y'all can provide some informative guidance, mainly on question 1 since I can hold off on Pirates for the most part.
Thanks!

Little off topic but have you ever played STARS?
I ask because of your interest in the MoO and Star Control games.
I have not, don't think i've heard of it either. Looked in GOG/Steam catalogs to see if it could spark a memory but doesn't appear to be in either companies catalog.

It's kind of an indy but it's been around for years. I don't know if you'd be interested but it's alwasy been my favorite space conquest game even though it's next to no graphics. I will try to find a link for it and post it; never hurts to take a look and it's kind of picked up a bizarre cult following.

I remember this being a great game.
Sadly, it seems to have disappeared...

011284mm: I want to get Master of Orion as a complete collection, what is so wrong with number 3 that people hate is as much as they do in the reviews?
Looking at reviews it seems the game pretty much plays itself.

The original developers (Simtex) were no longer as they were shut down by Microprose in 1997. When Atari gained the rights they published a sequel (MOO3) by another developer.

Having said that, the price is not bad and opinions differ

Good luck!
HERE
If you go to the "What is STARS!" option it should tell you how to download the demo and then get a code to unlock the whole game, which I believe is now totally free.

Thank you.

Just to let you know, the key is not free.
He charges a minimum contribution of $2 for it.
Well worth it though...

5 years ago I paid $20 for the disc. If I'd only known! :P

Heaven only knows how long ago I paid £0.25 for it in a bargain bin.
One of the best buys ever, along with Pax Imperia: Eminent Domain (£0.99)!

Interestingly, he suggests a contribution of up to $6.
Sounds like a perfect fit for GOG's price structure......

I did read the reviews, and was neither way swayed by them. The idea of downloading a pile of patches to make it work better is not my idea of fun, but not off putting.
I was more worried about there being massive game killing bugs in there.

I have it in my basket now and I am sure I will buy it Monday as a job lot so I can try them all out when I get the time. I never know I might like the game being more helpful then others find it.
Thank-you for your help.
Great promo, but I had to talk myself out of buying anything. I need to play more before I buy more!
Cool promo.
MoO 1+2's been on my wishlist for a while, probably should see if I could trade for it and maybe Darklands this weekend.
