tinyE: #1 is one of my top ten of all time and #2 for me is virtually unplayable. I'm too scared to try #3.
To me #1 was already one of the worst RTS games ever and to this day I can't explain the positive opinions with anything else than nostalgia.
Great promo .

Ophelium: Nothing for me this weekend. I guess that's a good thing.

sbolokanov: This.

I donated my last money earlier today to the Document Foundation (LibreOffice) anyway.
That's nice of you! I admire such act! :)
For starters I've decided to kill F4LL0UT. I consider him a true friend but given his opinion of EE #1 I am left with no other choice.

Second, I went ahead and snagged SS 2006 and while it does kind of suck, it is also A LOT OF FUN! Call me an imbecile but I dig it! :D
I'm in on multiple from the wishlist and likely multiple that aren't. Might just stock a few gifts as well.

Thanks GOG!

IronArcturus: Is there a windowed mode?
avatar
Grargar: Yes. PCGamingWiki is a good source for GOG games that tells whether a game supports Widescreen or Windowed Mode.
So the game does work with an Xbox controller without needing 3rd party software?

Also, have you ever tried the Cannon Fodder series? Is that any good?

It seems to support it.

As for Cannon Fodder, I played a bit of the first one. It's a nice little action game that can be pretty brutal, though, as your soldiers can die very quickly and you can't retry a mission if you mess up, at least not with the same soldiers.

So Cannon Fodder doesn't have any in-game saving?

It does. But if you decide to quit the mission, then those soldiers that were killed in the mission, stay dead. I can't recall whether the save is ovewritten though.

Thanks for the info!

I just decided to retry the game just to make sure. There is no autosave. You must save/load manually. So, if you end up doing badly in the game, I suppose you could just load the last save.
Nice Promo! I'll have to grab a few of those games over the weekend. :)

Well I've read some of the missions last a long time. Do you know if the game will allow the player to manually save in the middle of the mission?

I don't think so. The choices for load and save are respectively on the upper left and the upper right part of the mission preparation screen.
Edit: Confirmed by Wikipedia.

"The player is only able to save the game upon completion of a whole mission."

I'll just have to use willpower to overcome the temptation that Sacred Gold, Overlord+Raising Hell, Jagged Alliance, and Flatout all provide in a single Weekend Promo. For the good of the budget! ;)
