This is a game with comparatively miniscule number of cars, rigidly dived into a number of classes, a handful of tracks that you'll be repeating after less than a dozen events and a linear progression through a paltry career mode.
But it's fantastic.
The driving physics nail the sweet spot between simulation and arcade. Car's have a solid weight to them where every corner is aread more challenge but you can still manage to muscle through. Every class handles entirely differently with the gloriously ramshackle destruction derby cars contrasting sharply with the delicate European sports cars. Even you may be throwing these cars around the same few tracks the agressive and unpredictable AI will still make every lap around feel fresh. With a robust difficulty system that allows you to pick from dozens of individual options every driver can find their ideal game.

This is not a racing sim, nor is it an arcade racer - this is a hybrid of the two.
The good parts - there is a great sense of speed, which makes the ride very tense and exciting. This game also has above-average engine sounds and amazing damage detail.
The bad parts are the controls and physics - often you will flip because of the tiniest bumps, your car will spin out because theread more game often can't tell how much you are turning or braking (even when using analog controls).
Overall it's a fun game, just resist the urge to treat it like a serious racer.

GRID is a good arcade-simulation game. No worries on car-settings, just sit behind the wheel, push the gas and race. You will smell petrol and smoke, you will see tyre-particles on windshield while pushing it to the limits.
Not recommended for those who like to setup the car under the hood, but ideal if you just want a good ride.
4 star is I'm also missing the possibility to fine-tuning and upgrading the car.
