A Fighting Fantasy adventure from the mind of Ian Livingstone.

Deathtrap Dungeon, a challenging action game based on the best-selling Fighting Fantasy gamebook by Ian Livingstone, in which you venture into the most dangerous place in the whole realm in search of fame and fortune, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99

Hear me, hear me! The distinguished Baron Sukumvit, glorious regent of the city of Fang, protector of the people, defender of no crown, bane of all who dare oppose order, challenges all brave men and women to enter his famous Deathtrap Dungeon! Anyone bold enough to accept this challenge and amuse his Lordship and his noble guests by fighting the demonic deadly denizens of the dungeon, may apply to enter the contest at the city guard office. The challenger who survives all the levels of His Lordship's playground and slays the fierce red dragon Melkor residing in the final chamber, will receive a royal price of no less than 10 000 golden coins and will be allowed to the Fang's throne. So sayeth our beloved ruler, Baron Sukumvit. Hear me, hear me!

Deathtrap Dungeon is a third-person perspective action game that puts you in the middle of a monster-infested, trap-filled maze created with the sole purpose of torturing adventurers for the amusement of nobility. As the brave warrior Bandog, or Red Lotos the fierce Amazon, you will fight a variety of over 50 monsters with your vast selection of fantastic weaponry and magic spells. You'll be also solving various puzzles in order to continue your journey into the depths of the maze, where your ultimate enemy awaits. Based on the popular Fighting Fantasy gamebook by Ian Livingstone, Deathtrap Dungeon presents an unprecedented challenge and rewarding gameplay, while fulfilling this story's destiny which has always been becoming a video game!

Accept the Baron's challenge and, keeping in mind the gold and power that can be yours, boldly step into the ominous Deathtrap Dungeon, for a small entry fee of only $5.99 on GOG.com.
I remember how this game got trashed in reviews back in the day. I don't remember hearing anything good from the players either.

Now, if GOG could somehow sell the original Final Fantasy books in electronic format, we'd be on to something...

xxxIndyxxx: [ Yup i did read/play that book since a local library had a few of them. This is probably the only one i can remember.
These thing should be perfect on an Ipad
They are! :) Tin Man Games has recently gained the license for the Fighting Fantasy books, and they also make original gamebook titles. They'd be great on here actually, if they ever do PC ports!
I vaguely remember this game being difficult to control and fairly uggo in the graphics department back when it came out. I eventually gave up and sold it in a bundle of games on ebay.... however its the kind of game I WANT to like. Wonder if my older eyes would appreciate it more now?
Never heard of it; that's some embarrassing marketing, both back in the day and, as Adzeth has pointed out, what GOG is doing now. I think I'll leave Eye of the Beholder and Grimrock to satisfy my dungeon-delving needs, at least for now, especially since G-doc seems to be the only person to really, enthusiastically like this thing.

JMich: Don't forget about Reus.
Off to update the wiki.
I was just about to mention that game. I knew it is going to be released on GOG last night when checking their website and saw GOG logo. But, I think last night the gamecard is not available yet on GOG.

That game looks interesting. And now we already know what kind of game to be released on Thursday next week.

This is why I love these forums, I probably would never have heard of this company otherwise! Holdfast looks to be right up my alley, I'm a sucker for all things dwarven.

tburger: Is this the 'mind-blowing' release G-Doc mentioned?
Good question .

Eh. Not my cup of tea. Guess I'll stick to the Eschalons... but I'll hold off until the weekend sale tomorrow to see if there is anything else I want to snap up.

viperfdl: Isn't Rune a h&s, too?
avatar
F4LL0UT: Yeah, indeed. Totally forgot about that one.
Although I must say that I'm still not sure what H&S' are. I used to call games like Die by the Sword and Rune H&S games but most people seem to refer to Diablo and its clones when using this term.
Rune really would blow my mind... loved that game. The multiplayer deathmatch was especially fun.
Played this on the Playstation. It was also one of the first couple of games I played where you moved around in a 3d environment so I remember having a hell of a time.

Not for me. Played it with a friend of mine and he won every single friggin' match we played. It was horrible. I'm still having nightmares of this humiliating experience.
Holy shit, I know I said this in another thread, but can the admins IP-ban everyone who squawks "HURRRR WELL MY MIND ISNT BLOWN YET DURRRR" when every. single. new. release is announced?

Or maybe you could just, you know, ignore those posts if they annoy you so much?

PS MY MIND ISNT BLOWN YET
Oh my god this is based on gamebook I actually played? WTF?

I might have to get it just for that fact alone.

Do you seriously not find it annoying?
