A Fighting Fantasy adventure from the mind of Ian Livingstone.

Deathtrap Dungeon, a challenging action game based on the best-selling Fighting Fantasy gamebook by Ian Livingstone, in which you venture into the most dangerous place in the whole realm in search of fame and fortune, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99

Hear me, hear me! The distinguished Baron Sukumvit, glorious regent of the city of Fang, protector of the people, defender of no crown, bane of all who dare oppose order, challenges all brave men and women to enter his famous Deathtrap Dungeon! Anyone bold enough to accept this challenge and amuse his Lordship and his noble guests by fighting the demonic deadly denizens of the dungeon, may apply to enter the contest at the city guard office. The challenger who survives all the levels of His Lordship's playground and slays the fierce red dragon Melkor residing in the final chamber, will receive a royal price of no less than 10 000 golden coins and will be allowed to the Fang's throne. So sayeth our beloved ruler, Baron Sukumvit. Hear me, hear me!

Deathtrap Dungeon is a third-person perspective action game that puts you in the middle of a monster-infested, trap-filled maze created with the sole purpose of torturing adventurers for the amusement of nobility. As the brave warrior Bandog, or Red Lotos the fierce Amazon, you will fight a variety of over 50 monsters with your vast selection of fantastic weaponry and magic spells. You'll be also solving various puzzles in order to continue your journey into the depths of the maze, where your ultimate enemy awaits. Based on the popular Fighting Fantasy gamebook by Ian Livingstone, Deathtrap Dungeon presents an unprecedented challenge and rewarding gameplay, while fulfilling this story's destiny which has always been becoming a video game!

Accept the Baron's challenge and, keeping in mind the gold and power that can be yours, boldly step into the ominous Deathtrap Dungeon, for a small entry fee of only $5.99 on GOG.com.

Graphics quality is poor, but it'll give you an idea of gameplay. BTW, someone yesterday was complaining about not being able to play female characters. In this game you can. Even though she's barely clothed :)
I remember this one, oh yeah. Maybe i give it a try again...or i just install one of the old Tomb Raiders again.

Adzeth: ..heroic Bandog or the deadly and sexy heroine Red Lotus

Sigh..
Judging from the screenshots heroic Bandog has even 'sexier' buttocks than the deadly and sexy Red Lotus. :D
Oh nice, I've always been curious to try this one, wishlisted! :) Like a lot of 80s kids I read the famous gamebook it's based on; if it's anything like that it'll be tough and filled with traps and puzzles just as much as the fights. And if I recall the reviews correctly on this one, it's a pretty hefty challenge to beat the dungeon.

My mind at least is issuing a contented sigh :p
Ah, Keeveek. You're a real pearl among our users, you know that?
And we all know how pearls are made. By continuous irritation :-P

As long as women dream about me, it's a good thing ;P
Another bit of a meh release, but I think I might get this in a sale sometime to satisfy my nostalgia.
A decent-looking pre-2000s release - very nice! And it looks like there are PC cheats (http://www.ign.com/cheats/games/deathtrap-dungeon-pc-4026), so there would be a back-up plan if things got too difficult (that's my thing, anyway).

F4LL0UT: F*** YEAH! Have been waiting for this one ever since I joined GOG. With Severance and Die by the Sword already being here we only need Dark Vengeance and Nightmare Creatures to complete the collection of oldschool PC fantasy slasher games now.
Nightmare Creatures! Thank you so much for reminding me about this one, I have some fond memories of mercilessly hammering on keyboard keys while playing it back in the day.

Who's the rights owner? Is it still Activision?

G-Doc: This is a title that comes with many, many good memories.
One of the ones that I was personally excited about.

As for "mind-blowing", I got a bit to personal with you guys. Here's some explanation.
More cRPGs on the way, hmm? That's VERY interesting. Eye of the Beholder Trilogy? ;)

I remember playing the actual Fighting Fantasy book this game was based on when I was about 10 or 11. I didn't know about the video game interpretation until much later and by that time I wasn't interested, and to be honest the game still doesn't look appealing to me at all. At least some people were impressed, so I suppose it is a good release.
I always saw this as a more brutal medievil dungeon version of tomb raider. It's a decent game, nothing spectacular, has some early 3D issues but not terrible. I enjoyed it when i found a copy a couple of years back.

This one appears a little more helpful (missing the intro video and not a native speaker but it's the PC version and I think you'll still have an easier time to understand what the commenter is saying):

Btw, I find it funny to note how some games seem to share the same sound libraries, I think I've recognized a sound that was used in NWN later on, just as Divine Divinity's environmental sounds strongly reminded me of Gothic. :)
