A Fighting Fantasy adventure from the mind of Ian Livingstone.

Deathtrap Dungeon, a challenging action game based on the best-selling Fighting Fantasy gamebook by Ian Livingstone, in which you venture into the most dangerous place in the whole realm in search of fame and fortune, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99

Hear me, hear me! The distinguished Baron Sukumvit, glorious regent of the city of Fang, protector of the people, defender of no crown, bane of all who dare oppose order, challenges all brave men and women to enter his famous Deathtrap Dungeon! Anyone bold enough to accept this challenge and amuse his Lordship and his noble guests by fighting the demonic deadly denizens of the dungeon, may apply to enter the contest at the city guard office. The challenger who survives all the levels of His Lordship's playground and slays the fierce red dragon Melkor residing in the final chamber, will receive a royal price of no less than 10 000 golden coins and will be allowed to the Fang's throne. So sayeth our beloved ruler, Baron Sukumvit. Hear me, hear me!

Deathtrap Dungeon is a third-person perspective action game that puts you in the middle of a monster-infested, trap-filled maze created with the sole purpose of torturing adventurers for the amusement of nobility. As the brave warrior Bandog, or Red Lotos the fierce Amazon, you will fight a variety of over 50 monsters with your vast selection of fantastic weaponry and magic spells. You'll be also solving various puzzles in order to continue your journey into the depths of the maze, where your ultimate enemy awaits. Based on the popular Fighting Fantasy gamebook by Ian Livingstone, Deathtrap Dungeon presents an unprecedented challenge and rewarding gameplay, while fulfilling this story's destiny which has always been becoming a video game!

Accept the Baron's challenge and, keeping in mind the gold and power that can be yours, boldly step into the ominous Deathtrap Dungeon, for a small entry fee of only $5.99 on GOG.com.

tinyE: I've been meaning to have a wack at this game for a LONG time becuase 99% of it sounds perfect for me. THEN there is the save system combined with the difficulty. If a game is going to be hard be it tough battles or tough jumps then I better damn well be able to save WHENEVER I want.

I feel bad but that 1% is enough to keep my pocket change in my pocket for now. :( Maybe I can ninja it or something. :)

Bloodygoodgames: I've just watched a bit of a Let's Play, but it looks like you can save the game whenever you want to? Is that what you want?
YES YES YES
I'm talking about the save game feature not the pic I just posted.
GamesSpot says it has a "save spot" feature, not save anywhere.

Hillsy_: It would have been better if you just released the book. The book is actually one of the best FF's in the 50+ series, the game on the other hand being the exact opposite end of the scale.
Yup i did read/play that book since a local library had a few of them. This is probably the only one i can remember.
These thing should be perfect on an Ipad
At least it's an oldie, so yay. I remember the third person view of that damsel character. As a wee lad, that was enough to get me interested I guess. Only saw it in a magazine though.

viperfdl: Isn't Rune a h&s, too?
Yeah, indeed. Totally forgot about that one.
Although I must say that I'm still not sure what H&S' are. I used to call games like Die by the Sword and Rune H&S games but most people seem to refer to Diablo and its clones when using this term.

Adzeth: ..heroic Bandog or the deadly and sexy heroine Red Lotus

Sigh..
"..the deadly and sexy hero Bandog or the heroic Red Lotus"

Fixed it for you. There, better? :)

The name of the game rings a bell, but from the gameplay pictures it doesn't seem that familiar. I may have played some demo version at some point, but the game didn't stick.

Thanks, it helps :)
Good release. Not really one im interested in but might get it for mindless gore when im half drunk.

If this release is one that blew G-Doc's mind I think s/he has low standards.
Note to self: Never get GOGers hopes up about anything. Ever.
as soon as someone plays this please PM me with the save game details. I'm getting conflicting reports due in part to the fact that it's a port and a lot of reviews are coming from folks who have only played the PS version.

Thanks. :D
It's also possible that this is a game where you _can_ save everywhere, but reloading puts you back on the latest checkpoint. The second era of Tomb Raider games worked like that.

Don't have the game available to me right now, so I can't check. :(

I just looked in my manual and it says this - "DD uses a system of savepoints. This means that you can't just save the game at any old time. You can only save the game at certain safe points in the Dungeon." ;)
YESSSS!

Thanks, GOG. Love this game (and the Fighting Fantasy books that this was derived from). Instant buy for me.
