ggf162: Anybody know if you'll be able to redeem The Witcher 3 on GOG if you buy the DVD version?
avatar
Mist17: I'd like to know as well, and what if any drm is in the DVD version?
One of the many, many things that should have been told, but weren't.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS??

Retail DRM??

Collector's Edition RETAIL PRICE??

Dawnreader: No, nothing it's DRM-FREE
Sorry, no, they explicitly didn't say that.

Its a bit early for the witcher 3 pre-order (in my mind) and Galaxy is meh (I will try it once)

PS I will be pre-ordering W3 but at a later date

IAmSinistar: It's over now, here is a summary of what I gleaned from it.

Witcher 3

Release date is Feb 24, 2015 on PC, Xbox & PS

Standard boxed version comes with manual, compendium, map, soundtrack and stickers.

Collectors limited edition (pre-order only) adds polystone statue, 200-page art book, steel wolf head medallion, and steelbook game case.

Digital edition includes DRM-free game, digital artbook, bonus videos, map. Exclusive GOG edition includes extended soundtrack, comic book, concept art, a detailed map, and Neverwinter Nights. Also a discount for GOG members who own previous Witchers. Mentions a "fair price" plan to give away extra games for non-US buyers, a la AOW3.

GOG loyalty discount on W3 preorder is 15% if you own one Witcher here, 20% if both.

GOG Galaxy

Freedom Of Choice - You don't need to be online to play single-player. Online needed for multi-player and posting achievements.

Optional Client - Auto-updates of games. Can still download patches independently if desired, not forced to auto-update.

Cross-Play - You can multi-play with players on other services without needing to use those clients.

The Witcher Adventure Game

The Witcher Adventure Game closed beta available now through GOG Galaxy.

W3 preorders come with two keys for The Witcher Adventure Game beta, which is not F2P but a proper game.
Two small parts that you missed, which I added. Otherwise, excellent summary!

EDIT: Also the comic book that comes with the GOG-exclusive digital version is a redemption key to use on the Dark Horse Digital Comics service.

WhiteElk: GOG Galaxy is huge. A game changer. An alternative to steamworks. Superior. More open, free. Respect.
With Valve working on the Steam Machine this year, if GOG.com galaxy takes off as planned, it won't be long before they could consider a similar route, and take on DRM for console games! That would be sweet!
Are those Witcher adventure game keys you get when preordering TW3 keys for the Galaxy beta or for the final version?
I went in to preorder, but i cant find the collectors edition? I want to atleast know the price for that thing ;p

The beta.
So, as someone who only caught the very end of the conference, I have to ask: What the hell is Galaxy? An optional DRM free multiplayer client is the impression I get, is that accurate? And is there a reason that the URL exists (they did say "come join us at gog.com/galaxy), but only shows the normal GOG.com front page?
Well, after watching the conference I can only say one thing.

My PC is too puny for The Witcher 3 (Sadly. ;_;), but GoG Galaxy and The Witcher Adventure Game have me hyping already! I can't wait to get them! Galaxy will be like Steam, but DRM-free, (and so it is thousands of times better by design) and digital boardgames have always been a passion of mine. So. Freaking. Impatient.
Can someone recap where I can get galaxy and the beta keys, please?

I got the impression that it's like Steam, but optional and for your GOG games. In short.

Yes this is the best gaming related news in a long time.
Pre-ordered my Witcher 3 and got a couple of fair price codes ('cos I'm in the money grabbing UK!) and a code for Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition - shame I already own it!

Never mind, I'm sure Sinistar, foxworks or Sachys will help me to find it a good home. :-)
Amazon.de preorder: FAIL
low rated
So what exactly is the news?
A crappy client and TW3 20% off pre-order?
