A quick overview of new things on GOG.com

Friday seems like a good moment to sum up the interesting things that happened over the week. There's not much point talking about our DRM-Free Time Machine sale here, as it's already ended. We know you liked it, it was lots of fun, and we'll probably re-visit this idea in the future, but let's move on to more current things. There are two things in particular we'd like to mention. First, is the new <span class="bold">Official GOG.com Blog</span> on Tumblr, that we've launched just this week. We hope to make it a place offering a different perspective on the games from our catalog, GOG.com and its team, and gaming in general. If you happen to own a Tumblr account and you would like to give us some help with spreading the news about the blog's recent launch, you can do so by re-blogging this post. Or any other post, for that matter. It will be greatly appreciated if you do.

The other thing is even more exciting, especially if you're a music aficionado. Over 30 FLAC-encoded lossless soundtracks have been just added as bonus content to our games, and you can grab them alongside their respective games. If you already own one of these games, a FLAC soundtrack (or soundtrack) is now available for you to download. If not, you can some high-quality game music right now, for as little as $5.99.

Here's the full list of all 31 FLAC soundtracks. Note, that in some cases there will be more than one added to the same game+goodies package, so keep an eye out for the most attractive deals!

Crusaders of Might & Magic

The Witcher (both soundtracks: music from, and inspired by the game) and The Witcher 2

Wizardry 8

We’d like to thank Stefan_L. for providing us with the enhanced Darklands soundtrack. Also, special thanks go to Thiev and Judas Iscariot, two members of the jolly GOG.com crew, who went above and beyond their usual duties to procure all that lossless musical goodness and make it available for your listening pleasure.

That's it. Thank you for your time, have a nice weekend and remember about our Wargaming Promo.

Edit:
This Week on GOG returns! Well, at least in some form it does. Here's the first ever "<span class="bold">The week on GOG</span>" post on our blog. It contains the summary of all this week's releases, the weekend promo info, and--yes!--the Enigmatic Hint for the upcoming GOG.com release! We hope you'll enjoy it!

Redfern: Mobile standards? Are you kidding? I tried to access GOG.com from Firefox for Android and that have i seen is nowhere called "mobile friendly" more like "we dont know about mobiles yet".
avatar
Wishbone: We're not talking about GOG.com, but about their blog.
Oh, i see. Would be better GOG made so mobile optimization for main site too, btw. At least strip down some fancy effects and pictures (for separate mobile version, ofc, no need to touch "normal" one)

deonast: Excellent, thanks for that. Had a quick listen and tracks 27 and 28 now sound great. I'd have listen through of the whole soundtrack but 1am looms and I have a 5am start for work.

JudasIscariot: It's been verified by two people: me and one of our Support folks just in case I missed something again this time around :)
Verified too, everythings fine now. Thanks again and a big head's up for the GOG Support, which I never had bad experiences with.
All the hassle about The Witcher's OST reminds me that I still haven't played "Assassins of Kings" while I have it right here and played three and a half times through the first one... But I'll need time for that. Maybe I start on the weekend.
Except for a gameplay video where you could see Geralt walking around I know absolutely nothing about it, never watched trailers or read reviews. Exciting, exciting...

Sadly I've not played either game, keep meaning to but not getting the time. Weekdays are a write off with 11+ hour days + travel time for work these days. Old adage you have the money to buy the games but no time, or you have lots of time and no money (I never get the middle ground).

JudasIscariot: Welcome to Web 2.0, where everything is made to conform to mobile standards.
avatar
Wishbone: You mean "Web 2.0 - where competent web designers has their code check whether the client accessing the page is a phone or not, and presents the design accordingly"? ;-p
You'll have to wait for Web 4.0 for that. (Web 2.0 was the Javascriot-enabled "web applications" and "dynamic content without reloading the whole page", Web 3.0 is "fit for handhelds", perhaps - if we're lucky - Web 4.0 will add back the desktop non-touchscreen suitability.)
avatar
Maighstir: Web 3.0 is "fit for handhelds"...
...and not fit for anything else? That seems to be the case :-/

Edit:
On sober reflection, that was stupid of me. After all, that was your whole point about Web 4.0. Move along folks, nothing to see here.

Antimateria: Edit2: I watched chackie chans legend of the drunken master.. hopefully in W3 I can be drunken master. =D
You're always drunk, so you're already 50% there. Right?

Yeah, more like not caring whether or not it works elsewhere. Maybe it does, maybe not.

Also, partially inspired by Android's development, 2.x sucked balls on tablets, 3.x was tablet-only, and 4.x looks slightly different depending on the device.

Hello everyone!
I don't see the lossless soundtrack of Heroes of Might & Magic 4. It was silently removed from GOG? :(

Hello. The FLAC soundtrack of Heroes of Might & Magic 4 was discovered to actually be lossy and was removed from GOG, along with some other lossy "FLAC" soundtracks.

Aah... I see. Thanks for the reply!
Edit: Never mind, I'm a blind idiot.
