The sights and sounds of The Witcher

Our friends at CD PROJEKT RED have just released a brand new trailer for the upcoming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt showcasing the unique universe that you're about to set foot in.

Set in a world where dark, gritty fantasy meets Slavic lore and story telling - the morally grey universe of The Witcher has always been half of the series' success. This newest trailer is about introducing you to that beautiful, but troubled land. You'll get a feel for the absolute scale and detail of the world that you'll be exploring - the openness, the choices, the consequences, and the freedom to influence a world that may not even be worth saving.

But you're not here to read about it, are you? Let's watch.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is just over a month away, and you can pre-order the game right now - it's a particularly great deal if you own the previous Witcher games and take advantage of the additional fan discount. CD PROJEKT RED have also just announced the Expansion Pass with 30 more hours of finely crafted content to be released in the following months.

Oooh missed this (how the hell did I do that???). Time to go hide somewhere for a few minutes and take a look!

I saw the screenshots from the expansion pack gamecard and they looked AMAZING. I was later told those are actual release (not expansion) images. I'm curious how close my aging computer will be able to get to that and how it will end up looking.

I know, I know for a tried and true PC gamer I do a lot of talk about how fantastic the eye candy is but come on how can I not!

*edit Oh wow haven't watched it yet but clicked the link on the main page. Boy is that still shown creepy as hell!

Ciris: Dude. Don't rain on my parade. Have you seen the video? I almost peed my pants a little when I did, I'm so excited for the release. AND THEY'RE NOT EVEN PAYING ME TO SAY THAT.

JudasIscariot: Unfortunately, there's nothing we can really do about The Great Firewall :(

(edited because fronzelneekburm is not in Germany atm :P )

fronzelneekburm: Damn, now I'm curious what the quote said before you edited it. :P
He said "unfortunately, there's nothing we can really do abot GENMA Onimusha" :P
Aw heck now with a trailer like that I want to build a new computer again to play this game :(
The only thing that sucked about that trailer was teasing and tempting me to watch 35 minutes of gameplay at the end! ;)

I want to so badly but I will not spoil the fun of experiencing those 35 minutes myself the first time!

There are a few neat mechanics in the game that I didn't realize existed which sound really neat (populating previously wild / overrun areas once they are "cleared"). The open world vibe really reminded me less of Skyrim, more of Assassin's Creed 2 / Brotherhood and Red Dead Redemption which is awesome in my book.

I know you probably can't tell me this - but any mods care to shed light on the launch DLC? I think it was mentioned that 3 of the free pieces would be there right at the get go - any chance we get a dungeon or two during the first week / month after release?

Also, that shot with the whale tail while sailing - awesome! And I LOVE the voice actor for Geralt. The Witcher 2 had this wonderful quiet menace and atmosphere. Most of what I remember are late nights and that intoning voice more than anything else. Such an awesome, awesome cast that really defines the game for me.

Yes I'm a drooling fan LOL ;)
I took a delight in the pure luxury of this wonderful trailer !
OK so I need to use my vacation time on May 19th and somehow convince my wife to visit her parents without me :)

Although I am still upset about the whole expansion fiasco, I am going to hold onto my pre-order
Umbrellas are for wussies! Prepare your NBC suit as I may rain down on your parade! Or may not - how could I know how you would transpire my words. But if you think you may be offended, scroll down, would you kindly?

Okay, thoughts about trailer:
Fanservice - check.
Atmosphere - check.
Inspirational - check.
Looks better than modded Skyrim - check. That was a joke. Ha-ha, fat chance. :p Seriously though, should someone refrained from discussing and promoting graphics of Witcher 3, it would be proverbial 12 out of 10. Now it's just a decent graphic, least you can expect to see from a game demanding two thousand bucks worthy rig.

Things that worry me still remain, though. Take that "you can develop new moves" phrase. Geralt has restored his memory, yet he is progressive marasmatic amnesiac who still have to grow from low levels again, despite the fact he was level 40+ in W1 and level 35 in W2? We still have to deal with tonnes of garbage in our inventory that doesn't belong there, instead of having neat and tidy W1 inventory? Imported end-game equipment will again turn into pumpkin (still miss my Mahakaman sihil and Aerodight)? Will game actually be playable at stated specifications or we have to wait for GOTY? Yes, easy to guess, I've just finished replaying W2 to refresh my memory and I'm not amused by what I've seen.
But enough gloom, good luck, cheerio and ta-ta!

Okay, take your NBC suits off, that was a drill. :D
One thing is sure.
There will be wind.

groze: I didn't find a single mention on GOG's part of this being a gameplay trailer, I guess that some people only like to complain for complaining's sake...
It's in the title: 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Official Gameplay Trailer'.
Whoa, this gets me pumped for the game, holy crap! :D
Just finishing The Witcher 1 this weekend and starting Witcher 2 for a fresh experience :)
Looks stunning, I can't wait!
Seems more like trailer for new players who are not familiar with the witcher, but i'm pretty excited about the new footage shown !! Ciri plot is going to be AWESOME !
Did you downgrade the graphics? Looks worse than the other trailers....
