The sights and sounds of The Witcher

Our friends at CD PROJEKT RED have just released a brand new trailer for the upcoming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt showcasing the unique universe that you're about to set foot in.

Set in a world where dark, gritty fantasy meets Slavic lore and story telling - the morally grey universe of The Witcher has always been half of the series' success. This newest trailer is about introducing you to that beautiful, but troubled land. You'll get a feel for the absolute scale and detail of the world that you'll be exploring - the openness, the choices, the consequences, and the freedom to influence a world that may not even be worth saving.

But you're not here to read about it, are you? Let's watch.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is just over a month away, and you can pre-order the game right now - it's a particularly great deal if you own the previous Witcher games and take advantage of the additional fan discount. CD PROJEKT RED have also just announced the Expansion Pass with 30 more hours of finely crafted content to be released in the following months.

xa_chan: That's exactly what is preventing me to get the game in pre-order (apart from the bad PR with the expansions, of course). I played TW1 in the EE. I preordered TW2, but never got around playing it before the EE. So I wonder, if I preorder now, since I won't play the game for a long while (soooo many games to finish first...), wouldn't it be better if I waited for an EE we all here know will eventually come?

Navagon: Yeah, the backlog is definitely a consideration. No way I'm getting through all that before the EE. Even if it's a year later (yes it's that bad). Meh, maybe you're right. Logically you're definitely right. But I logic might have a hard time suppressing my excitement for a title that's as far up my street as this is (Cyberpunk is far closer to the mark, but this still ticks a hell of a lot of boxes).
I know... I have impulse-bought lots of games, of which I haven't been disappointed, but I really shouldn't have...

Zoidberg: Damn, can't wait to be done with this spam...

Ciris: Dude. Don't rain on my parade. Have you seen the video? I almost peed my pants a little when I did, I'm so excited for the release. AND THEY'RE NOT EVEN PAYING ME TO SAY THAT.
Heh, I'm excited, but Linux version is still far off in the unknown future ;)
must say, that is one of the better previews i have seen. Not epic and stunning as some others, but then again, they didnt showcase much of actual gameplay and were more mini movies, but this clip seemed to show a ton of real gameplay and the gorgeous graphics, real time environments.

It seems like they have taken all the good (graphicwise) from Skyrim, ESO and other newer games and just vastly improved on it.

Gotta say, I am getting a bit excited to play and hopefully become lost in another world for some time.

On The Witcher 3 page, in the description section there are pre-order offers like Neverwinter Nights, digital comic book, extended soundtrack, etc etc. Are those pre-order bonus or will they also be available after the release?

All of them will be avainlable to all who purchase W3 even after release. It says that clearly in QA section of its page.
Best video game trailer I've ever seen, congratulations.
Hopefully someday I'll have a system that's able to run this.

I normally do not pre order games, especially due to some studio's recent releases that were beyond disappointing. I made an exception with the Witcher 3. GOG is an amazing site, with friendly community, DRM free games, and a good company that has been fan friendly. Due to those, I pre ordered the game. Now with this trailer, I can't wait to get it!!
hmm good trailer but I have to ask: was this console footage?? The framerate looked like it was 30fps but that could have been due to youtube. Also the graphics look different. Not as sharp as a lot of the screenshots but a bit more like a high detail painting instead of very sharp textures (don;t know how to discribe it better). Like how cell shaded can get beautiful low res textures but different. Don't get me wrong I really liked how it looked and i might be the answer to my question: how the hell do you run this open world with detailed graphics like the witcher 2...

skeletonbow: I have to admit when I bring up the GOG homepage and see content on it that isn't related to The WItcher series, it is kind of disappointing. I mean, I manage to sift through everything to find all of The Witcher content anyway but not without grumbling a bit. Your screenshot illustrates the problem clearly though. Just look at how much of the space on the page is wasted by NON-Witcher content! Blah! GOG you can do better than this!

Why not put sales promos for other games on another page or something? Make gog.com homepage default to what is now the Witcher 3 preorder page? Just an idea anyway for customer convenience.
Do you realize that the whole right part is generated automatically based on what is currently selling the best (and GOG doesn't directly affect it in any way), and that the large ad in the top left is actually constantly rotating, so that it's Witcher-related only 1/5 of the time?
I'm sorry, but for some reason still completely unclear to me, the Witcher hate (among some people) here on GOG forums starts approaching truly ridiculous levels.

xxxIndyxxx: how the hell do you run this open world with detailed graphics like the witcher 2...
I believe there are many techniques that allows that to be possible but one thing is most likely assured: the same quality rendered on Geralt won't be the same as 10 meters away, 100 meters or a kilometer. I heard some rumours that view distance won't have too many options and that worries me as I always decrease for the advantage of acceptable frames. OTOH, hopefully a solution for this will come with time.

I guess they will manage this vast world visual demands through the 4 core CPU and 8GB RAM needed as minimum and the pretty high requirements for GPU for high settings. After all, the good thing with consoles now is that since they are powered by 8-core X86 APUs by AMD, games' optimisations are too similar.

I've seen the trailer.
The overall impression was very good, but not far from other lates videogames trailers.

The cinematic sequences seems very nice.
The graphics seems very good.
The short gameplay clips doesn't transmitted me much in terms of how combat will flow: if it will be a "run-of-the-mill" ARPG combat or something really new and interesting.

In the end I enjoed the trailer, but I'm not moved toward the game or away from it.

P.S.
One thing: in all outside scenes there was wind at hurricane levels

Discover The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt universe*

*discoverable areas of tw3 universe depend on the number of owned dlcs and season passes for tw3.
I really would have liked this video to be 60fps! 30fps and YouTube encoding diminished the experience, somewhat. Nonetheless, this game looks epic :)
