The sights and sounds of The Witcher

Our friends at CD PROJEKT RED have just released a brand new trailer for the upcoming <span class="bold">The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt</span> showcasing the unique universe that you're about to set foot in.

Set in a world where dark, gritty fantasy meets Slavic lore and story telling - the morally grey universe of The Witcher has always been half of the series' success. This newest trailer is about introducing you to that beautiful, but troubled land. You'll get a feel for the absolute scale and detail of the world that you'll be exploring - the openness, the choices, the consequences, and the freedom to influence a world that may not even be worth saving.

Isn't this a gameplay trailer? Where's the gameplay? All I saw was 4 minutes of quick cuts and voiceover hype. Sure, it shows some gameplay scenes, but never more than a couple seconds at a time. To me, that shows more of what you have to hide than what you have to brag about. Glad I cancelled my pre-order.

There are other videos for that, gameplay trailers tend to be short and focused on advertising what features are available in the game.

My goodness! This looks amazing! I'm sure a game of such scope and ambition will have flaws but it looks like it is going to be something really special!

Then what's with all the cut scenes in a gameplay trailer? You can't tell me that a cinematic cut scene is gameplay, and there were a lot in that trailer. Besides being 'GTA V Trailer Copycat', the trailer didn't really show me what to expect from Witcher 3's gameplay. I just saw a shitload of hype and highly touted features when I wanted to see the game played without interruptions or PR narration. Sorry to not join the fanboy orgy, but I'm not feeling the love for this game. Only apprehension. Like I felt before Borderlands 2. And Saint's Row 3. And Payday 2. And Civilization V. And I could go on for a while.
