The sights and sounds of The Witcher

Our friends at CD PROJEKT RED have just released a brand new trailer for the upcoming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt showcasing the unique universe that you're about to set foot in.

Set in a world where dark, gritty fantasy meets Slavic lore and story telling - the morally grey universe of The Witcher has always been half of the series' success. This newest trailer is about introducing you to that beautiful, but troubled land. You'll get a feel for the absolute scale and detail of the world that you'll be exploring - the openness, the choices, the consequences, and the freedom to influence a world that may not even be worth saving.

But you're not here to read about it, are you? Let's watch.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is just over a month away, and you can pre-order the game right now - it's a particularly great deal if you own the previous Witcher games and take advantage of the additional fan discount. CD PROJEKT RED have also just announced the Expansion Pass with 30 more hours of finely crafted content to be released in the following months.

Ehm, can you make a fullscreen screenshot of a guy seen on 03.57? Tattoo is above his shoulder blade, towards shoulder, IIRC.

skeletonbow: Hopefully that'll change in the future though so that things that are impressive actually look impressive without having to sit at the computer that is needed to see it first hand.
Nuh, they'll make it when big monitors will be widespread, and that'll happen when porn makers start to issue videos of that size. So now you know who holds progress. /grin
A year ago I'd be definitely impressed. Half a year ago I would be sad, realizing I can't run the game. Now I'm just waiting for the game to come out to enjoy the soundtrack. The game itself I'll probably play sometime closer to winter.
Somewhat off-topic: can anyone make out the lyrics of this song? (Actually, this one would do too)

Sounds like some variation of Fear a' Bhàta: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fear_a'_Bhàta

Sounds like it. :-)
Thanks a lot, the song's been haunting me since I first heard it in Disciples 3.
I didn't find the lyrics for the version used there though. It's different from the common ones.
I thought I'd post it here since this seems to be the most active thread; The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has gone gold.

I found out about it from this site:

This referenced:

There's an ongoing discussion about it here.
I guess it's "gold" for the initial announced platforms (which makes sense, release is very close). But it's far from gold for Linux I suppose.

Can't understand why games industry just don't use some universal libraries to develop games.
Linux platform is becoming more and more widespread and there are very good things out there to develop on this system.

Sure, just did a screenshot of the tattoo guy image. I had to get out the binoculars to see it though. ;o) Attached below...

You're actually likely more correct than you jest. :) It was the porn industry that ultimately solved the "Bluray or HD-DVD" competition and they also decided the VHS vs. Beta war in the 80s as well. :)

Anyhow, here's my screenie of the Witcher...

They do but sadly it isn't yet universal. It will most likely become much more common in the coming years though as cross-platform becomes more important than ever not just on desktops but on all manner of devices etc.

Valve has some excellent developer videos on how to do cross-platform development from the get go and utilizing every useful library out there that already exists instead of reinventing the wheel. Whether it is an SDL+OpenGL+OpenAL etc. approach or one of the big cross platform game engines or some other combination of pre-existing engine and/or libraries, it's kind of a "solved problem" so to speak, but sadly all development shops haven't ramped up on that yet.

Thanks. But I think I must apologize, as I gave wrong time-code, apparently, as I mean that guy in attachment and tattoo in red circle. Can you make screenshot of him?

He-he, some say that ad moves progress, but it seems it's porn, after all. :)

I'll add that with linux becoming ubiquitus, it will be so more effective to develop on linux rather than anything else,
Perhaps even console will be like a cheap PC (what they really are)(Yeah, I don't like them).

Moreover, there will be much more room, user side, to make a game box startup configuration: strip everything out, leaving only the bare minimum to play that damn "hungry" game.

I can't disagree with that... considering I do 100% of my own development in Linux. :oP

Sure, attached...

Made by viewing in Chrome fullscreen (F11), then screenshotting (PrintScreen) and pasting into Paint to save as JPG.

Although it's not perfect, it seems that this tattoo is indeed, the one I suspect it was. And either it is VERY out of place, or extremely fitting. Although I'm not of those who got offended by everything, I don't know how others could react.
I smell another twitter-gate.

It's just some random unknown and almost impossible to notice game graphic detail to me, and I suspect 99.999999 of anyone that plays the game. :)

Update: I removed some of the .999's from my estimate since one person noticed, so the percentage can't reflect a higher ratio than all humans on earth. :) The new number does suggest some math as to how well I hope the game sells modulo some variables though. hehehe
