NEUTRAL FACTIONS

Diplomacy Screen

The relation system with neutral factions has been reworked. Each faction now presents 4 relation statuses offering new rewards and risks depending on how you treat the faction.

All new interactions with Neutral factions and Clans are reunited in a new Diplomacy screen.

The Offering Well

A new building is available to improve your relations with the neutral factions: the Offering Well.

New Neutral Faction - The Dwarves

The Dwarves are joining the Northgard party!

Dwarves, well known for their mining prowess, will obviously have access to and supplies of many treasures and precious resources but come too close, and you might regret it...

On the other hand, they might lend you a helping hand if you manage to gain their trust.

SCOUTING & SPYING

Interactions with rival clans are evolving:

While scouting, the borders of territories under the Fog of War are now colorless.

By sending your scouts to spy on an enemy's Town Hall, you may access new information like their Lore-tree or resource stocks.

In addition, notifications regarding the other clans now feature the portrait of their Warchiefs.

RIVALRY

Rivalry Screen

Based on the information you’ve gathered, you can now declare an enemy clan as your Rival, for a gain, but at a cost:

- Town twinning boosts your population growth, but it also increases the population growth of your Rival.
- Eavesdropping gains you more Lore based on how much Knowledge your Rival has discovered that you have not.
- Target a Clan with less Fame than you with Bullying and you will gain more Defense against them, but if they come out on top, they get significantly more Fame in return.
- Manhunt places a target on your Rival’s back by hitting them with an Attack malus outside their territory. In exchange, they get a bonus as long as they stay within their territory.

The Emissary

To establish this Rivalry, a new building is available: the Emissary Lodge and corresponding unit, the Emissary.

New competitive events for you to take part in against the other clans for a reward.

All the new Kröwns and Daggers features are not scriptable for mods at this time. This will be possible very soon.

Update #16: Crown Station

Well this one took a bit longer than we expected. I guess we were a bit optimistic about the amount of content planned for this update. But we're finally here! We did decide to leave a couple of things for the next update, so contrary to our original plan, this one doesn't contain all the planned content yet.

Without spoiling too much, this update includes three major areas (Crown Station, Vulcan Island, and the Pyramid Tomb), EIGHT shelters (each an unique underground level), building turrets and defenses for tower-defense-like mini game (enables entering those shelters), and lots of other tweaks and additions.

About Localizations (Part Two)

We're moving forward with the localizations. Almost all reference strings are in place, and we're getting ready to order localizations for selected languages. The current game build contains work-in-progress localizations for Simplified Chinese and Russian.

The full set of Official localizations available at release include: English, Simplified Chinese, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Turkish. The voiceovers will be in English only.

The bigger news is that we will also be opening up the Steam Workshop for localizations! We know we are not able to "officially" translate the game to all the languages you are requesting, but we can enable the community modding tools to add any language imaginable. This will happen some time before the release (hopefully). Looking forward to playing the game in Klingon and not understanding a word!

Update Highlights

Crown Station

You can now enter the Crown Station area via the elevator in Undercrown. You'll be finding out about the K23 radio station, listening to audio logs, and... progressing your Main Quest. (The ending is not included in this build yet, so you'll just encounter those familiar blue barriers at some point.)

Vulcan Island

The mysterious sea area beyond the west coast is now also accessible. Spoiler on how to gain access to it: Read all the Myth Tablets on the island and you'll see a short cutscene for a clue where to go next...

Pyramid Tomb

You can now enter the Pyramid Tomb after you've completed all the Tombs on the island. You'll find tons of useful, a new weapon recipe, and the sarcophagus of the king.

All photography inside the Pyramid Tomb is strictly forbidden, so no screenshot for this, sorry.

Shelter Defense

You may have wondered what's inside those shelters on the island. You'll be able to open those hatches in this update. Unfortunately you won't be making new human survivor friends.

Build defenses to stop the horde of monsters, and the shelter is ready for entering. You may be surprised what you find there occasionally.

New Skills

A couple of new Skills added this time.

There's a new Turret Specialist Skill related to turret handling. Note that you'll also be able to make new inventions that will unlock other turret type and increase the ammo capacity.

The Animal Friend now has a third skill level. It makes the animals you've tamed fight by your side in combat. Unleash the Combat Bambi! We'll have to see how much tuning this feature still needs though.

In addition to that we'll be also activating those Obelisks, adding one or two new monster types, and any missing or forgotten feature we've got time for. And of course balancing, polishing, fixing bugs, and optimizing.

The one after the next one (Update #18) will contain all the localizations and voiceovers (English only), but very little new stuff as we're trying to keep the build as stable as possible for the big launch. We'll also have our hands full with other launch related tasks.

But what happens after the launch?

The game is doing pretty well at the moment, and people are liking it, so if the launch goes well, we'll also be doing Post-Launch content updates for this game. I'm not 100% promising anything as it does depend on how well the game performs, but if all goes well, that's something you can expect.

And finally, I can't say this enough: thank you for all the bug reports, nice reviews, encouraging words, and everything! It's been a long ride (especially in the midst of COVID), so all positive feedback from you guys has definitely helped to get through this! We're finally seeing the light at the end of this tunnel!

And by Ahskul what a journey this has been so far. Speaking of which, there is a bit of a parallel here that could be drawn between caravans trudging across a barren, post-apocalyptic dark fantasy world and a tiny studio scrambling to deliver a huge open-world game but we let's not go there on this fine day! :D

What's truly important in this whole journey is that it would not have been possible without the continued, constructive, persistent support of so many of you, the players. Everyone who spent hours and hours delving into the Early Access, everyone who dropped a few kind words or a review of the game, shared posts, talked to friends about Vagrus, sent bug reports, pointed out typos, and of course, bought the game - you are what made all this work worth it. If you could keep this up by playing the game and sharing this post we would be eternally grateful.

Size and Content
With companion questlines, a new companion, and a new region, the game grew by about 30-35% compared to the last public Early Access build, with a lot of UI and feature improvements. Because of this large amount, there are certainly still glitches here and there but the team is ready and eager to address those as they rear their ugly heads. We also have some unfinished business regarding the Wealth victory path and the adding of new playable races, which we'll get around to presently.

For a detailed description of what is to come, check out the previous devlog post here. Below you will find the full patch notes, which is basically the same in a bullet point list.

The Future
Because the Riven Realms have been part of our lives in one form or another for 30 years, rest assured that we have no intention of abandoning the game now that 1.0 is out, of course. On the contrary, our plans involve improving mechanics, adding content, and creating DLCs if there is a demand. We'll share more detailed plans when the tumult of the release abates somewhat.

Gemini Rue has been updated to the latest version of the Adventure Game Studio engine! This means the game now runs in the openGL graphics driver, which means the game is now sliiightly more compatible with a greater number of modern monitor configurations.
Were Mac & Linux updated also? GOG versions of those appear to be quite outdated, unless they go by a different standard?

Daeran wouldn't show up to his not-a-date, because he was still drunk after his birthday party - fixed, now he'll make sure to sober up before such an important event;
During the final dialogue in the game, one of dialogue options could lead to a loop - fixed;
Fixed an error with the game not ending if Greybor died during The Price of Loyalty quest, when he was loyal to you;
Fixed incorrect reactivity in a dialogue with Anevia in chapter 5 after the summit;
Rapture of Rupture sometimes wouldn't complete after the death of Vellexia - fixed;
Sometimes a conversation with Vellexia wouldn't start during the Rapture of Rupture quest - fixed;
Sometimes in Nexus a dialogue with Hand of Inheritor wouldn't start - fixed;
The Last Steps quest sometimes wouldn't continue - fixed.

Areas

Berenguer would not appear in Drezen after joining the crusade - fixed;
Blackwater - assembling the Helm of Psionic Protection is no longer limited to one attempt;
Daeran could get stuck in the sitting animation in Nexus - fixed;
Ineluctable Prison - fixed an issue when Hepzamirah's ghost wouldn't disappear when you attempted to attack her;
It was possible to walk through one building at Kenabres market square - fixed;
Players could meet a tiefling on Kenabres square after the attack on Defender's Heart, if they previously killed him - fixed;
Skipping a cut-scene of using an elevator in the mines of Colyphyr could leave the party floating in the air - fixed, now you can't skip that cut-scene.

Crusade

Abyssal Host status could stay when switching from Demon to another mythic path - fixed;
Added a button to hide the log;
After loading a save, upgrades could disappear from the projects Outpost to Bastion Expansion and Bastion to Fortress Expansion - fixed;
Enemy units were using healing abilities on squads with full health - fixed;
Leaders of enemy armies had incorrect names - fixed;
Magic Instructor feat now works according to its description;
Raising a Dragonslayer project now grants the correct item;
Summoned units used to appear without a visual effect - fixed;
Tactical battles wouldn't begin sometimes - fixed;
We redesigned the progress of filling the hospital and added a tooltip for the current hospital counter;
When the limit of units on the battlefield had been reached, then after using the summon ability a new creature would not not appear. Resolution: If the limit of units on the battlefield is reached, the general won't be able to use the summon ability, and a tooltip with a warning will appear;
You can bind a hotkey to turn on the Inspect feature for the units in tactical battles now;
You can now inspect a unit by hovering over its model;
You will be able to see damage above everyone who takes it now in tactical combat.

Classes & Mechanics

Oracle lost the Divine Zap orison after the previous patch - fixed;
Aeon Bane no longer dispels effects on enemies who were not affected by the spell due to spell resistance, immunities or other reasons;
Cognatogen — Wisdom gave a penalty without providing a buff -fixed;
Lich and Angel Mythic Paths get access to their 10th level spells now;
None of the last three summons for the Azata Mythic Path actually summoned the creatures they were supposed to summon - fixed;
Paladin, Ranger and Bloodrager had no spellbooks after 3rd level in some cases - fixed;
Sacred Armor — Fortification 25 ability had no description - fixed;
Sensei Advice: Mass Extra Attack ability had no name - fixed;
Shaken condition now can be removed during rest;
Warpriest Spontaneous Casting and its two sub-types didn't have any description - fixed.

Turn-based mode

Sometimes the game could crash when trying to charge while mounted - fixed.

Items

Retraining made some features from items permanent - fixed;
Triceratops from Triceratops Statuette could become a permanent party member after retraining - fixed.

UI

Kineticists couldn't dismiss area effects of infusions - fixed;
Sometimes the difficulty of skill checks was being displayed incorrectly - fixed;
Switching between spell books and party members in the spell book interface didn't keep the spell level - fixed;
Character's portrait disappears after the mythic level up - fixed.

Misс

Aivu could become medium sized again after growing large. Her growth should be more consistent now;
Area of effect spells and pits will now pause during the dialogs;
Fixed an issue with the physics of cloaks;
In rare cases a battle against Xanthir Vang could break - fixed. If this happened to you, you can return to the room where the battle took place, and it will continue;
Shamira used to rise from the dead after death - fixed.
