Wurzelkraft: I hope it is possible to modify it in some way (like playing different games) but knowing Nintendo that seems unlikely. Let's wait and see.
Oh, I'm sure some folks will do exactly that.... or at least try.

they have to renegotiate a deal with mike tyson for that though ;p
Looks kinda cool, but I don't see the point ... I can just play my Nintendo emulator. I would love to see a lot of these games get high definition remasters, but I have no interest in buying the same old games over and over.

However, there are still a few classic games that I would love to see released on GOG.com, including most of the old PS1 games like Final Fantasy VII-IX (Including Tactics) and others. There were a lot of great games that were made for the PS1 that looked like garbage due to the limited technology at the time of their release. I would love to play 'enhanced' versions of these games, but I simply don't see a reason to re-release old Nintendo games. I don't mind buying digital copies of the classics, but not like this.

That's exactly what I'm hoping for. :) If this "console" is in some way similar to the original hardware, instead of being just another emulator with the usual inaccuracies, that'd be the best way to experience the NES nowadays. Although without 4-player support. ;)

It's wii based from what I understand, so emulated.

it might be a stripped 2ds or 3ds the 3ds plays nes games you can buy via its Eshop
so it either has sd card support or sd card traces on the mobo if thats the case

Yeah I was going to guess Virtual Console based.

the wii hardware is cheap as chips but the 2ds hardware cant be any more expensive and stripped down will be quite cheap

so it might be 2ds based

I used to have a region modded saturn. But got rid of it for something. Think I traded it online for a neo geo cd.

Don't get the wii mini it's heavily stripped down, it doesn't even have wi-fi. https://www.nintendo.com/wiiu/features/compare/
