Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle

DRM-free, tested on Windows 7/10.
Cold Waters ought to be on that list. It doesn't even have a .dll to delete.
King Arthur launches Steam even after deleting the .dll.

Since we still don't know where to put the DRM-free Epic store games....

Slime Rancher (free at the moment) is DRM-free on Epic Store.

(End of OT ;))
The Occupation is running fine without Steam out of the box. Tested on Win7/64.
Been a while.

Should point out Sunless Sea had DRM added a long time ago:

[from a support ticket I filed with Failbetter Games - who failed here - back in Sept 2017]

"> Our GOG and Humble Sunless Sea builds are DRM free, the Steam versions
> contain DRM as most steam games do.
>
> The DRM check is failing because the steam_appid.txt file is present and the
> game is being closed as a result.
>
>
> All the best,
>
> [Name Removed]
> Failbetter Games"

In short, i'd ported my copy of Sunless Sea to a USB stick (as I always did then) and blocked it communicating with steam (via ZoneAlarm). The reply was #13 of 15, and I've still never yet had a reply to my question of when they added the DRM (the game being DRM free on all platforms was the reason a bunch of us bought the "lifetime" package on steam long prior to its release on GOG).

Edit: hope thats of use.

Actually the wiki page doesn't claim that the game runs as is.

The wiki page states "Delete or rename steam_api.dll in the game's directory."
Also, that person's comment indirectly says that deleting or tinkering with steam_appid.txt might make the game start even without Steam.

Are you saying that doing all that still doesn't allow the game to start?

While I didnt post the prior 12 emails getting to that exact point, it should have been inferred on your part as reader with me being no new user around these parts.

Additionally, I explicitly stated (and quoted) Failbetter Games as having ADDED DRM since the games release there.

Yarp?

I wish I could filter my steam library by those catagories, by filtering those without drm and those with and can be played offline without steam

I added categories for those. Of course that only will help you after you bought the game already so not sure if it is of actual use for you.

i mean automatically, i use a steam app that auto catagorizes
Tales is DRM-free.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/416250/Tales_PC/

Played on Windows 10.
Broforce can still be played without the Steam client running. The additional languages they added however cannot be changed without the client the usual way. To change the language of the game you will have to edit the options.xml file inside of the save folder and add (or change) the parameter:

<overrideLanguage>xx</overrideLanguage>

where xx is one of the following:

de = German
es = Spanish
it = Italian
fr = French
pt = Portuguese
jp = Japanese
ko = Korean

Thanks to Zyankali for figuring this out.

Okay, we're all updated again. Sorry for the delay, I've been sick lately. :/

As for the Half-Life thing, I don't know anything about Xash3D; can someone with more knowledge shed some light? Is it an official thing, or does it even matter? Should it be added to the wiki anyway? Thanks for any input in advance!

As far as I know, it's an engine claiming to have several advantages over the original Half-Life engine.

Here's the ModDB page: https://www.moddb.com/engines/xash3d-engine

I have tested it and can confirm that it does work and Half-Life works just fine without Steam. It's an unofficial mod as far I as I could tell and it does indeed allow you to play Half-Life without the client. However, I think Jonathan? and I have tested but I'm unable to speak for anyone else who has tested it.

As far as I know, it seems it's the only way to get the original Half-Life running without Steam.

Edit: Took out the Github page, as it appears that version is Android only.
