Are you Strogg enough to survive?

Quake IV is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 75% launch discount.
The fourth chapter in the legendary FPS series takes the fight to planet Stroggos, home of galaxy's ugliest cybernetic meanies. When things go sideways you must rely on your big guns, armored vehicles, and fellow marines to survive this desperate mission but nerves of steel might help, too.

Feeling nostalgic or just awfully trigger-happy? Check out our Bethesda shooters sale.
The 75% discount will last until August 28, 1 PM UTC.
For those who are wondering why GOG doesn't have the online multiplayer it's because....the master server is most likely down since i've checked the Steam version just in case and even hosted a server to check if my friend can see it (which isn't).

Rezon87: Yeah it's down on Steam but it's probably a temporary issue. It doesn't make any sense to permanently shut down the server for a game like this without a notice. There are older games with the servers still running.
Just now checked the google about it, it seems that this happens from time to time.
Just got an answer regarding Quake IV cd-key for Linux..
Hello,
I am afraid that we support Quake 4 only on Windows, and since multiplayer is available in our release only through a LAN connection, there are no keys required, so we do not distribute any.
Unfortunately we are unable to provide any support for the binaries downloaded from other sources. But I'd like to recommend trying to just run the Windows installation through Wine, as it's reported to work very well. We are unable to provide any support for that as well, though.
I apologise for the inconvenience.
Regards,

tremere110: Has anyone contacted GoG support about getting a valid key?

I don't have Linux so it wouldn't help me any but maybe GoG will get valid keys if there's enough demand.

Klumpen0815: I did.
Please give us a heads up if you get any news from GOG support.

Aw, I’ve just seen the post from mike_cesara, this is not good news…

I know, the situation is bad.. However, we can still manage with unshare -n and some random key for the time being.

Well, if I need to use random keys from shady sources, I might as well not bother to buy the game on GOG to begin with ;)

I’ll wait for a hassle-free DRM-free version, meanwhile I can still enjoy Quake 2.
There are already enough good (old and new) games running on Linux without headache to bother with the ones that don’t…
I wonder if GOG tried to get the Quake 4 Special edition videos included as extras.

Very true

Sadly I've already bought the game, downloaded and played, so.. ; )

Very funny. Multiplayer is probably only available through LAN because they didn't bother to include a key.

Another GOGed release.
I wouldn't blame GOG for lack of keys and I think we should already know, we're not the customers Bethesda's looking for.
Steam users not getting keys either but I am full of hope GOG Support will work on our case, not on three shifts though ; )
Anyone having 'Quit to Desktop' issues after killing the Harvester in the 'Aquaducts Annex' level while in the corridors? Seems this bug hasn't been fixed, needs Multiple CPU/core disabling for this level!

Exactly.

Here's the response I got:
Hello again,

Quick question please, I bought this game the other day & have download it, but I haven't installed it yet. I saw in a thread today that it came with GoG Galaxy. So, if I would like the Classic Installers, do I have to re-download the whole game again or can I just download the Classic exe file(part 1 1mb) & then it won't install GoG Galaxy as well?.

I compared file sizes and I am afraid it is the larger bin file that is afflicted :-( so it is either a 2.8GB download or you can tick the (do not know exact wording) 'No thanks, I do not want the awesome Galaxy client installed' during installation.

Thank you Themkem, I have just had a look at the bin & it is bigger by what seems to be 100mb(0.1 gb). Will re-download it one day, not in to much of a rush to do so though, at the moment :).

All my other games are set to Classic Installers by default, never had to change a thing before, so easy to get caught out with this, if you aren't looking properly.
