Klumpen0815: Can a blue please clarify if the original WinXP support was broken or just not officially given anymore?

Pixelhate: I've contacted GOG support about XP (32bits on Windows), this is their answer : "We no longer perform compatibility tests for Windows XP and Vista, so I'm unable to guarantee that the game will work correctly on Windows XP as it was not tested."

Compatibility was not tested but might work...

I need a more definitive answer before buying it.

I've already tested it on XP and it didn't work, they did break XP compatibility, so don't bother.
To play it on XP you'll need the retail version or the Steam version (which unfortunately is the same), even the pirate version may run on XP, not GOG's though. I don't approve of this.

I would have bought Fallout 3 GOTY and Oblivion GOTY as well but as of now, my retail versions seem to be superior (since they run without online checks as well and also on XP.
Too bad, I like to reduce the clutter in my apartment.

I can only hope that GOG will reconsider and add the untampered files that were still XP compatible to the extras or make a patch that replaces the changed files with the old ones.

timppu: Nice!

I consider especially this as an importart release for GOG, since this is one game many pro-Steamers here claimed would NEVER EVER LIKE EVER! come to GOG, because it is soooooooooo Steamworks-integrated that it is simply impossible to release it without Steamworks.

Yeah, right... ;^P

This release makes it all that much probable that Skyrim will appear on GOG too at some point. I guess I won't be buying it on Steam after all.
I really wish Paradox is paying attention since Steamworks is their default excuse for new releases not coming here drm-free.

It won't work with XP because of the Galaxy.dll , not game itself .

EDIT : If you wan't to play with WinXP pick a steam_api.dll from any game and rename it as GalaxyWrp.dll . It must work . No problem on here .

Huh, now that's interesting!
So Galaxy broke it? I didn't even notice the Galaxy.dll in there but now I see it.
What are the smallest games with a steam_api.dll? I currently don't have one with it installed.
Just removing the Galaxy crap won't work then?

I'll boot XP and try tomorrow, time for bed now.

Galaxy.dll tied with GalaxyWrp.dll so you need to rename a steam_api.dll as GalaxyWrp.dll for eliminate Galaxy.dll
Thank you GoG and Bethesda!

I'd have happily paid full price to buy this here; I haven't had the joy of playing any more recent Bethesda games than Fallout 3 because of Steam, so it's great to see NV being de-steamed.

Can't wait to get back into the Wasteland!
AWESOME !!!!!,
but if Fallout: New Vegas had been release without Steam Suck's, I would have bought it years back.

Like all the other games Fallout 1+2+Tactics, Fallout 3, TES 3+4.

What version of Fallout 1+2+Tactics has reached GoG, the uncut/original US or changed INT/EU release?

Madshaker:
Windows XP compatibility breaks due to QueryFullProcessImageNameA. The ANSI version of QueryFullProcessImageName, which has as minimum supported system the Windows Vista.

As it has been already suspected the problem is the optional™ Galaxy client.
Also GOG screws Windows XP users, who have been supporting it for years and they don't even have Steam accounts. I'm one of them.

This is the GOG way to say "thank you", I guess. :-(

A few more notes from the Galaxy page:

Always optional

Beyond all these features, GOG Galaxy will never be mandatory. And that’s great motivation for us - we want to make it so good, that you actually want to use it.
Enough is enough!
We have made our choice. We don't want to use it!

Please, vote for Windows XP support here.

I agree its lame and really dumb for gog to do this their whole reason they sell games is to bring back old games for us to have so why make them uncompatable to their orignal oses their dos games have emulation so how about real suport for os we not talking about 8 bit or 16 bit we talking about xp which was nt and all windows are nt from xp up they come as xp games already when they mod them for win 10 lol

Gog be better then this dont be microsoft thats why their games for windows failed that be like you saying nope not suporting dos game or 8 bit or 16 bit need i remind you you selling them here now lol

thanks for that link so its lame galaxy thats going to cheat me outa geting my old games here wish they do two versions orignal game no cd and a if peeps chose the galaxy client installer one..

This seems unfair and anti what gog stood for since they tell us 100% drm free old games ,, if dos games can be played using dos box and old win 3.1 and 95 and 98 games why cant we have orignal xp style versions who run on xp

i get peeps like clients like steam and orion and galaxy but shouldnt we all have a chance to play these classics i mean i vote too for games to be releashed so i can play them with out cd and bring back my memories of games i love
xp games is after all xp games like dos is dos ect

Come on gog release non galaxy files of these games dont break the games over that client i mean if this is gogs future you be just another steam client rip off then :(

We here cause we hate steam hate clients thats why we came to you :)

darkangelz: Well played gog, well played. Bought all 3.
If this week is a ramp up to gog's summer sale, i should shred my credit card to prevent further damage to my bank account.
Summer sale, I always smirk a bit there as it is heading into winter her in Australia :)
