Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is now available for pre-order, DRM-free.

Written by the creative mind behind the original Bloodlines, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 brings the ambitions of the first to life and sees the return of a few fan favorite characters.

Immerse yourself in the World of Darkness and live out your vampire fantasy in a city filled with intriguing characters that react to your choices. You and your unique disciplines are a weapon in our forward-driving, fast-moving, melee-focussed combat system. Your power will grow as you advance, but remember to uphold the Masquerade and guard your humanity... or face the consequences.
OK I watched some more of the walkthrough. I'm close to the end of video 7 now. And I'm giving up.

I just see nothing worth wasting anyones time on. This is a pregenerated story you are forced to follow by the letter, and its not even a good one. The dialogues stay poor to bad. Even this relationship game you are playing with some characters is highly unpredictable and you would have to follow a guide to win those, and its not even clear that actually would reap you any benefit.

And for the record:

- A roleplaying game is when your characters effectiveness is purely dependent upon their stats. You can take any time you want on a decision.

- An action roleplaying game is when you typically have a less complex roleplaying system than in a pure roleplaying game, but crucially your reflexes etc matter as well.

- An action game is when your character has hardly any stats to begin with.

Thats why VtMB1 was an action roleplaying game, with a heavy focus on the roleplaying, but you definitely also need some reflexes; VtMB2 is an action game with at best homeopathic remains of any roleplaying.
I read somewhere this game was inspired my the Dishonored (2 I think) game mechanics. And I can see that in game, but entire Bloodlines 2 feels like a demo game in comparison to Dishonored. There, you had powers and could go nuts, eliminate people from entire city/area if you wished to. Here, you find yourself overpowered, yet blocked and locked out of rampage. Too bad the original Bloodlines 2 game did not see the light of day.
