Kyn, an unforgiving Viking cRPG, is available for Windows pre-order now, DRM-free on GOG.com!

1. Be a viking. 2. Be buried alive. 3. ??? 4. Profit. That's the short version of an ancient Viking ritual designed to grant might and magical powers to the bravest Nordic warriors. Meet Kyn, six rowdy vikings on a quest to fight off every single monster-like thing that infests their icy world.

The thing about Kyn is that it's tough, real tough. It's a tactical cRPG that's all about combat like you know it from Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale, no frills attached. Enemies are quick and brutal, and though you have your magic - health is always in short supply, one wrong turn and you're down for the count. Active-pause? Please. While you can slow down the game briefly to catch your bearings, in this world, even time is a limited resource.

Preorder today to receive the “Legendary Firemaster” armour set. The pack includes a full body armor set with chest guard and leg armor as well as a protective helmet with visor, also included is the powerful ‘Eye of the Fire Axe’ that deals extra fire and weapon damage as well as gives you extra attack speed. Brutal!

Want to make real life as awesome as that of the Vikings? Get the Deluxe Edition for all the goodies that come with the Standard Edition plus the Original Soundtrack.

Preorder Kyn today, DRM-free on GOG.com!
I've been watching this for a while, and I think I'll be grabbing it, but after my Divinity: Dragon Commander pre-order I've extended my "never buy before release (With the Witcher 3 being the only exception) beyond EA titles.
Looks interesting.

Vitek: Computer Role Playing Game.
Thank you
Unfortunately the "pre-order" bonus also strikes a negative cord in me, only thing I dislike more is "goodies" been sold separately, so I won't purchase until well after release (if at all). Maybe someone will garner some value from this feedback or maybe they'll just spit on their monitor right where my Avatar is.
I dislike exclusive in-game content, but that's on the devs and/or publisher, not GOG. I wouldn't want the GOG version to be inferior, so offering the content here is the right thing to do imo.

@devs/pub: It'd be nice if the Fire Master Armor and Eye of the Fire Axe were sold as low-cost DLC after release. Those who preorder would get the content free for supporting the game before release, rewarding them without hurting those who find your game in the future (or who can't afford it right now or dislike preordering).

The release date listed on other sites is July 28... is that correct? Didn't see an expected release date in the preorder announcement here or on the game page.

I appreciate that first video on the game page: It's informative and upfront about what kind of gameplay to expect. Reminds me somewhat of Aarklash: Legacy. Looks interesting.

Still 1 and a half month till release, while I dislike pre order exclusives I may buy this, however only if the dev provides the Linux version before the release date.
"Enhancing your six-pack"
I definitely could use that. Thanks, game.

That tutorial video reminded me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOXKEGg5EKU
So annoying...

Another exclusive again. Don't you know it will cannibalize your sales?

It may act as a propellent for more sales before release, but a deterrent after release since there is no point to pay good money for an incomplete experience. Now when there are so much games vying for gamers attention. As the majority of purchase happens after release, it is not wise to deter the majority of your sales.

That said I think GoG choose the wrong kickstarter game for GoG Early Access. Bloodstain has kickstarter exclusive (secret boss, Chain Sword play style) that if you don't sink $60 now in the kickstarter, you are going to miss them out forever, legally.

This is becoming a norm where you suddenly find that you miss out the full experience on a game you are playing

The pre-order exclusive is a promise to early adopters that other customers won't receive the complete game. Maybe a handful of people actually want this, but I suspect it's more that they just never gave it much thought.

No, I won't pay you extra to remove something from other people's copies of a video game.
When i first looked at game's page - my thoughts was like - oh, nice game, lets check it out!
Then i started reading the description... -"Buy NOW to get the PRE-ORDER EXCLUSIVE ‘Legendary Fire Master Set" and all the text below was about this 'cool' set - and the actual game details were under spoiler..

well, I'm not a hater of pre-order bonuses, not a fan either, but this 'description' clearly show priorities here.

people know nothing about your game and you description is like -"includes a full body armor set with chest guard and leg armor as well as a protective helmet with visor that can be equipped once your body stat reaches 20. Also included is the powerful ‘Eye of the Fire Axe’ that deals extra fire and weapon damage as well as gives you extra attack speed."

(had to copy the entire pre-spoiler description - because Imho every word in it is the best example of how not to promote gaems)

IAmSinistar: Funny how often those go together. :)
I try to be right and rude (feels soooooo goooood) or wrong and polite (so people want notice I'm wrong so easily... which is why I try to be polite most of the time).

It does look nice, but to not include female playable characters in 2015 is to not get my money. I want a character that I can identify with, and Hrolgar the bloody simply ain't it.

Note, before anyone comments that The Witcher 3 ain't including a playable female protagonist, I make exceptions for games based on characters who are already male or that have a story that is solid. Damn good stories, comics, and games make Geralt my favorite male playable character.

gamefood: At ALL developers milking the Vikings culture: There were NEVER any horns on Vikings helmets!
If they wore helmets AT ALL there were no horns on it. Got it?!
As long as the game/movie/whatever isn't trying to be especially realistic, I quite like the horns on Viking helmets.

Then again, I'm also a fan of the black panther, the brontosaurus and the planet Pluto...

But pronated hands on raptors and T-Rexs drive me nuts, so we all have our "but it wasn't that way!" breaking point. ^_^
