Kyn, an unforgiving Viking cRPG, is available for Windows pre-order now, DRM-free on GOG.com!

1. Be a viking. 2. Be buried alive. 3. ??? 4. Profit. That's the short version of an ancient Viking ritual designed to grant might and magical powers to the bravest Nordic warriors. Meet Kyn, six rowdy vikings on a quest to fight off every single monster-like thing that infests their icy world.

The thing about Kyn is that it's tough, real tough. It's a tactical cRPG that's all about combat like you know it from Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale, no frills attached. Enemies are quick and brutal, and though you have your magic - health is always in short supply, one wrong turn and you're down for the count. Active-pause? Please. While you can slow down the game briefly to catch your bearings, in this world, even time is a limited resource.

Preorder today to receive the “Legendary Firemaster” armour set. The pack includes a full body armor set with chest guard and leg armor as well as a protective helmet with visor, also included is the powerful ‘Eye of the Fire Axe’ that deals extra fire and weapon damage as well as gives you extra attack speed. Brutal!

Want to make real life as awesome as that of the Vikings? Get the Deluxe Edition for all the goodies that come with the Standard Edition plus the Original Soundtrack.

Preorder Kyn today, DRM-free on GOG.com!
*Looks at this game. Looks at sale purchases. Eye twitches...* Must... resist... LOL. But seriously I have a lot to play at the moment though this does look good! So I know it looks a bit like Torchlight and I see a few references to that game in this thread, but from the description I don't think it's that kind of game at all.

The release specifically mentions "tactical" and cRPG - two terms I don't associate with Torchlight.

Also, holy shit did anyone see the screenshot with that inventory screen! And I thought I hoarded loot LOL!

yyahoo: Pre-order exclusive! Yay! /sarcasm...
insert jim sterling comment here.
So after watching the longer of the two videos, it seems to play similar to and share mechanics with Aarklash Legacy. Not a bad thing in my opinion.
Looks good, but no Linux version = wishlist for now. Also not a fan of pre-order exclusives...

Are you sure about that? The video I watched had "Linux" specifically at the end "credits" - watch the last 20 seconds or so of the longer of the two videos.

Yes, but it's currently listed for Windows only. I expect the Linux version will arrive some time later - I'll wait until then at least. I don't want to risk a repeat of what happened with Age of Wonders 3.

Pre-order exclusives, heh ?

GOG needs a personal games blacklist, to complement the wishlist.

In-game pre-order items always make me uncomfortable. I can live with pre-order bonus goodies out-of-game, but in-game?

If I don't pre-order, I'll never have the complete experience. I dislike mucho.

Pre-order exclusives + regional pricing = No thanks!!

Geez I detest pre-order exclusive items! They're what made me stop buying retail boxed versions of games until the Gold/GOTY/Other-Name-For-Complete editions came out.

And my pet gripe - the "Deluxe" edition that really just means "Plus Soundtrack".

Still, this game looks like my kind of thing. I'm curious how well "unforgiving cRPG" will merge with "hack-n-slash". Depending on reviews, I'll probably pick it up one day, once I manage to get the bad taste of the pre-order items out of my brain.

Pre-order exclusive item set? Urrrgh.

Looks kind of interesting though so it will be put on the wishlist for now.
All these deluxe edition releases are WAAAAY less likely to be bought by me in the first 6 months. And the chance of a quick purchase decreases with each successive title so-released. Pass.
