Stand by your kin.

Kyn, an unforgiving Viking cRPG, is available for Windows pre-order now, DRM-free on GOG.com!

1. Be a viking. 2. Be buried alive. 3. ??? 4. Profit. That's the short version of an ancient Viking ritual designed to grant might and magical powers to the bravest Nordic warriors. Meet Kyn, six rowdy vikings on a quest to fight off every single monster-like thing that infests their icy world.

The thing about Kyn is that it's tough, real tough. It's a tactical cRPG that's all about combat like you know it from Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale, no frills attached. Enemies are quick and brutal, and though you have your magic - health is always in short supply, one wrong turn and you're down for the count. Active-pause? Please. While you can slow down the game briefly to catch your bearings, in this world, even time is a limited resource.

Preorder today to receive the “Legendary Firemaster” armour set. The pack includes a full body armor set with chest guard and leg armor as well as a protective helmet with visor, also included is the powerful ‘Eye of the Fire Axe’ that deals extra fire and weapon damage as well as gives you extra attack speed. Brutal!

Want to make real life as awesome as that of the Vikings? Get the Deluxe Edition for all the goodies that come with the Standard Edition plus the Original Soundtrack.

Preorder Kyn today, DRM-free on GOG.com!

Looks great, I was instantly intrigued. Then I saw the pre-order exclusive. No thanks.
EDIT: So I guess I just needed to get that out of my system. :P I didn't really say anything helpful.

tfishell: Everyone is apparently all *sighing* in unison... :P

Sigh sigh, sigh sigh, siiiiiigggghhhhh

Just don't buy or preorder, or complain to the devs who are doing the exact same pre-order thing on Steam.
Nope. We get to comment on why we're not preordering or buying. If you don't want all these comments, complain to the devs who are marketing their games this way. :)

My main issue is some people are acting like it's GOG's fault when they're just providing the same opportunity the devs gave Steam.

EDIT: I guess these comments could be used as feedback to the devs or GOG, but the true feedback is how well preorders sell, I think.

I think when I post bitches on release threads (which is hopefully relatively rarely) I consider the possibility that devs will visit the GOG forum, as many have. This is the only place on the internet where I talk about video games, aside from one or two posts on a publisher's site and a couple of tweets in the past, so basically the only place where I will register my gripes.

I certainly see where you are coming from and there are certainly bitch-trends overall that one should be wary of, but for the record I do consider preorder exclusives a bitchable offense. :)

Fair enough. I'm not interested in the game in any way (genre, price, whatever), so maybe it's not my place to complain about the complaining. ;-)

For now, it is what it is.

stg83: Ofcourse, get it right now folks otherwise the exclusive armour set will run out when the game is released.
Do you know how long does it take to make one of those armours? Dozens of hours and lot of hard work. I am not surprised they will get fed up with it and just stop making them after release.

Well great. My wishlist is back to 50 games.
Yay, another preorder exclusive bonus! Thank you GOG so much!
Good thing I am not interested in the game so I don't need to complain about the preorder exclusive ;-)

oh wait, this could count as complaint already :P
Call me when Expeditions: Viking gets here.

Seriously I dont get the handbags about regional pricing or pre order bonus.

Go buy any ffffffffffffff console title & will you get a discount against future purchase no you will ger sweet fffffffff all.
Even if the game was made in your country & gets a tax break in your country paid by mmmmmmmmm you.

You get it DRM free go to steam buy it & wait if you want to play it on your other laptop pc endure a pain in the arse system to copy it (that is about 10 years out of date). Upset steam & its good by no longer access games.

Dont like it dont buy i. But seriously get a bloody life.

Well, almost pre-ordered the game right now, until I saw the pre-order exclusive comments here. So thanks for drawing my attention to it. Pre-order exclusives are nothing more than an attempt to generate massive pre-sales figures in order to try to inflate a game's sales ranks. Sort of like trying to get on the New York Times Bestsellers List by promising an extra chapter of the book to everyone who buys it sight unseen. Basically it tells me the devs (or their publishers) don't have enough faith in their game for it to pre-sell on its own merits. if they don't believe in it, why should I?

Oh, and the only things worse than pre-order exclusives here are "exclusives before the game ever got here". Like the extra characters in Paper Sorcerer that you can only unlock if you backed it on KS. I really like that game, but seriously, fuck all devs who do that.
Note to all devs: If I'm going to get an incomplete version of your game when I buy it, with real money, then I'll just PIRATE the shit out of it & get a COMPLETE version for FREE.

FUCK you & your immoral, money-grubbing tactics. That shit don't fly with me.

I am not exactly interested in this game in particular & I probably won't even remember to pirate it, but it seemed like a good opportunity to huff & puff & beat on my chest like a primate.

By all means, contact the authorities & tell them I'll be stealing a bunch of 0s & 1s from the internet. I'm sure the rapists, murderers & paedophiles will be thankful to have the police off their backs for a while.

Cheers!
