Kyn, an unforgiving Viking cRPG, is available for Windows pre-order now, DRM-free on GOG.com!

1. Be a viking. 2. Be buried alive. 3. ??? 4. Profit. That's the short version of an ancient Viking ritual designed to grant might and magical powers to the bravest Nordic warriors. Meet Kyn, six rowdy vikings on a quest to fight off every single monster-like thing that infests their icy world.

The thing about Kyn is that it's tough, real tough. It's a tactical cRPG that's all about combat like you know it from Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale, no frills attached. Enemies are quick and brutal, and though you have your magic - health is always in short supply, one wrong turn and you're down for the count. Active-pause? Please. While you can slow down the game briefly to catch your bearings, in this world, even time is a limited resource.

Preorder today to receive the “Legendary Firemaster” armour set. The pack includes a full body armor set with chest guard and leg armor as well as a protective helmet with visor, also included is the powerful ‘Eye of the Fire Axe’ that deals extra fire and weapon damage as well as gives you extra attack speed. Brutal!

Want to make real life as awesome as that of the Vikings? Get the Deluxe Edition for all the goodies that come with the Standard Edition plus the Original Soundtrack.

I'll assume GOG has plenty of faith in this title, because they knew this was coming.

IAmSinistar: Basically it tells me the devs (or their publishers) don't have enough faith in their game for it to pre-sell on its own merits. if they don't believe in it, why should I?
Its most likely the devs Tangrin Entertainment in this case, since Pencil Test Studios the devs of Armikrog are offering preorders without trying to entice buyers with a limited in-game exclusive despite having the same publisher i.e. Versus Evil.

NoxTM: The third screenshot houses some of the prettiest purple I've seen.
Damn, now I have to buy it.

IAmSinistar: Oh, and the only things worse than pre-order exclusives here are "exclusives before the game ever got here". Like the extra characters in Paper Sorcerer that you can only unlock if you backed it on KS. I really like that game, but seriously, fuck all devs who do that.
I wouldn't say it's worse. I am a GOG fan, I want the complete GOG version. All things being equal, I won't be p̶l̶e̶d̶g̶i̶n̶g̶ donating to a kickstarter campaign which promises backer exclusives, but it doesn't hurt the potential completeness of the product in my GOG account -- it would just mean GOG wasn't able to secure the perfect version. So what, this happens. Both preorder exclusives and kickstarter exclusives spit in the face of future humanity, but only preorder exclusives additionally shit on my shopping experience here at GOG.

popperik: Yay, another preorder exclusive bonus! Thank you GOG so much!
GOG doesn't make these choices -- They just decide whether or not a game gets a chance to be released here. Whether a game includes pre-order exclusive bonus material is the choice of the developer/publisher. ( So GOG could refuse to sell a game based on that, but that would piss off more people than it would please. )

That said, I agree that this pre-order bonus is bullshit.

As for the game itself, I like the Viking theme, but it's hard to say whether it's going to be good. Definitely a case of "let's wait for release and some reviews".

andreiv72: Seriously I dont get the handbags about regional pricing or pre order bonus.

Go buy any ffffffffffffff console title & will you get a discount against future purchase no you will ger sweet fffffffff all.
Even if the game was made in your country & gets a tax break in your country paid by mmmmmmmmm you.

You get it DRM free go to steam buy it & wait if you want to play it on your other laptop pc endure a pain in the arse system to copy it (that is about 10 years out of date). Upset steam & its good by no longer access games.

Dont like it dont buy i. But seriously get a bloody life.
I'd look into getting a new keyboard instead. Something seems to be wrong with it.

The "only available before GOG" exclusives are worse to me in that I never get a chance to buy them at all here, whereas the pre-order ones at least give me a narrow window of opportunity. But yes, it all comes out the same in the wash - if I don't fork over money before the game comes out, I don't get the complete experience. In that regard it scarcely matters where the exclusivity happens, the net result is the same.

I honestly believe that all such pre-order exclusives should be turned into DLC that backers or early buyers get for free, and which are sold separately after the game debuts. Or hell, do like they did with The Vanishing of Ethan Carter and turn the previously pre-order only items into a separate upgrade. Otherwise it's a loss all around - the devs spend time on something only a handful of people will get to enjoy, and the buyers are stuck knowing they'll never get the full experience.

If this game didn't have pre-order exclusives, it would already be on my account.
At ALL developers milking the Vikings culture: There were NEVER any horns on Vikings helmets!
If they wore helmets AT ALL there were no horns on it. Got it?!

Will there be a demo? The preorder exclusives do bring a good point about the developer not having enough faith in the game. Perhaps a demo is in order?
