Bloodygoodgames: The one I do want won't start because, unless I'm mistaken, there's no way to delete a game download on GOG downloader.
avatar
JMich: Right Click->Remove from List to remove an item from the downloader, or drag and drop to rearrange the order.
Nope, now it won't open, it won't delete and I can't download the new version as, when I try it tells me "Access denied". I'm presuming there's a bug/virus in it that's completely destroyed that file?? And now it's stuck in my computer. Grrrrr,

I love GOG more than life itself but I bloody hate their downloader. That will teach me to try to use it again. Never had luck with it, doubt I ever will.

Ah well. My boyfriend is a whiz at computers, When he gets back from his business trip I'll see if he can get rid of that dam GOG downloader file for me.

I'm guessing the Access Denied is on installing, specifically at GOG Downloader.exe? Check the system tray, the X of the downloader minimizes it there, it doesn't close it. Alternatively, go to task manager and end the process from there, then try installing it again.
Also, going to %localappdata%\GOG.com and deleting any .bin files there should clear the cache of what is downloaded.

Hey J,

Tried everything you suggested, but it just wasn't liking me at all :) Just kept getting 'Access denied" or the file I was clicking on, (right clicking or left clicking) just wouldn't do anything.

Weirdly, I finally managed to get the damn thing to delete by right clicking the file through a back door and renaming it. Then, when I came to delete it, voila, gone.

Just reinstalled the downloader again and this time it deleted the first file with no problem. BUT..the damn thing is slower than Christmas so, back to Down Them All :)

And yes, I'm deleting this new GOG downloader too. For me, it officially SUCKS! :)
Down Them All is working a treat. Should have my game downloaded in about 20 minutes. Just calculated the time it would take on GOG's downloader -- about 8 HOURS.

Don't know what the deal is with that thing, but it's been like that since I joined GOG, both the old and the new version. Very weird.

Anyway, thanks for the help, J. :) As long as I can get the game downloaded, I don't really care how I do it :LOL

Glad you got it working, though I'm sure Fallen_Zen will be interested in troubleshooting the errors of the downloader.
Should you care for one more suggestion, the speed problem is usually due to the antivirus restricting the downloader's access, usually found with Avira and Avast, though other antivirus software may also restrict it. I know I can cap my line (both residential and work one) with the downloader, so it's definately not the downloader's fault, but it may also be your ISP's.
Anyway, if the %localdata%\GOG.com\logger.log file is still available, keep it handy for a while, in case Fallen_Zen is interested in it.
Enjoy your games, and I hope another version of the downloader will work better for you :)

I always disable my anti-virus before I download, so I know it's not that. :) I can't figure it out as every other site I download from is fine. No, I don't get lightning fast downloads (Thailand's internet isn't particularly fast) but the speeds I've always gotten at GOG are 1/20th of what I get everywhere else.

If I access GOG through a VPN, so it fools their download servers and they think I"m in the UK, it's slightly faster. But still nowhere near the speed I get on GamersGate. But....with Down Them All, I have no problems.

Ah well. Thanks again. Like I said, as long as I get my game, I'm good :)

Yeap, JMich is right, I'm always interested in improving the Downloader ;) I'll PM you tomorrow morning (9:33PM here) with some questions if you don't mind.
i have updated to the stable b version of the regular downloader and I'm still having issues with a downloading starting, then stalling out 10 minutes later and the downloader crashing, requiring a restart

Please PM with your e-mail address, I'll send you a test build of the Downloader. Could you also e-mail me the contents of your logger.log file? It can be found under C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\GOG.com. Thanks!
Does anybody else have this problem?
As soon as I try to type something into the password field, the downloader crashes. I've tried several versions of both the stable release, as well as the beta, and none worked.

Please PM me the logger.log details, this will help me locating the problem you are having.
Hello everybody, as others here I have this problem:

I start the downloader (it doesn't matter if it is the stable or the beta relase, and it doesn't matter if the downloader has any content paused or not) and start downloading something; after a while (seems random, can be 2 hours or 15 minutes) the program pauses the download and does not give the possibility to resume ("resume all" and "pause all" buttons both grayed out, but the program is still responding, as I can open the settings window, open dowloading folders etc.), the only fix is exiting and reopening the downloader, wich proceeds dowloading until the next hang.
System: Windows 7 64 bit, italian.
Downloader: 3.1.2b
Thanks in advance for the attention.
(sorry for the odd english, I'm not native)

I am feeling a little annoyed with the downloader right now. This morning it turned orange and said "You have new notifications!" I looked and I did have an update to one of my games. But now I can't make it stop. It has turned green but it keeps popping up and saying "You have new notifications!" Do I just have to turn it off altogether?

You were victim to consecutive updates.
DK2 got 1, and The Witcher got 4 more (Interview, Interview, Music Video, Behind the Scenes). Open those games, and the notification will go away.
P.S. The Witcher 2 was also updated yesterday, with a new Artbook.
Aha, I think maybe I got it once for each of the 4 Witcher updates (since I don't own W2 or DK2). You are right that it stopped now. Thanks!
