So, if I understand correctly Tribes is heavily multiplayer focused, so which of those games have worthwhile single player campaigns?

phaolo: Thanks, +1.
I got ES2 and T3V for their single player mode.
Don't forget Starsiege! :)

(not to be confused with [url=http://www.mobygames.com/game/starsiege-tribes]Starsiege: Tribes) has a pretty cool singleplayer campaign - nice backstory and great voice acting (+ two of the major characters are voiced by Mark Hamill)

The download page is confusing - under Starsiege: Tribes you should find two games: Starsiege and Starsiege: Tribes (the ISO says so, but people are reporting it does not contain Tribes). The former has single player.
A fun piece of trivia I remembered about the connections between both series (Earth/Starsiege and Tribes):

- The Phoenix referred in Children/Harbingers of Phoenix in Tribes is one of the main story characters in Starsiege (though not the player character).
- The Heavy armors from Tribes are referred as being technological heirs to the HERCs (the mechs from the siege games), being some sort of miniaturization of them.

Other than that, gog.com should totally add these games to the catalog, as new freebies. That would be sweet.
nice to know. don't care about the tribes games though. its multiplayer community died over a decade ago???

earthsiege 1 worked well enough in dosbox. i've beaten several missions innit, but never felt motivated to complete the game. the controls are very clunky& outdated. fighting enemy aircraft feels like swatting flies. the 3D graphics is maybe slightly worse than Mechwarrior 2 ?

not sure if earthsiege 2 works well on more modern OSs.

Ah, I see thanks!
Can someone link me to, or write a userfriendly guide to get the old games to work on a Windows XP computer?

Do people still play Earthsiege/Earthsiege 2/Starsiege/Tribes 1/Tribes 2 online? Which one is the more popular/better community?

Also, is there any way to play the Tribes Aerial Assault on my non-moded/chipped PS2?

Thank you for all the help :)
I only have 7zip here, can someone try to open StarsiegeAndStarsiegeTribes.iso with it ?
The other files open correctly, but not that one.

Do the downloads contain any updates that the games may have received later, or only the original installation CD images?

I'm just wondering if any official patches work on those versions (at least the Windows games), or you do need to find noCD cracks as well...?

That's why I'd also prefer proper GOG versions where any updates are already applied (and then some).

If you are on windows use daemon tools.
If you are on linux, just mount the image (mount, or furiousisomount or built-in DE tools)
Just noticed - Tribes: Ascend look pretty damn similar to "Renegade X" from fan-scene.

Also, Tribes: Aerial Assault is a Playstation 2 image. You need emulator or console to play it.
