DreadMoth: It would be nice if it was possible to force texture filtering, AA and 24/32-bit colour in software mode - modern CPUs might be able to handle it.
You are hitting some bug.
I can only assume VRAM amount is detected incorrectly. Is there a key to force that? I would start by disabling every antialiasing/filtering in OpenGL...

Not sure about forcing different VRAM detection.
Tried disabling forced AA/AF, etc. first thing, but it doesn't seem to have any effect.
I also tried a variety of different compatibility modes using the Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit, but didn't find any that affected the graphical appearance of the game.

-----

I tried running the game in Glide mode (using nGlide) and got an improved result:

Glide (1024x768 resolution selected in-game, 1440x1080 selected in nGlide Configurator - resized down for easy comparison with earlier shots)

Has two downsides compared to OpenGL:
UI scaling issues (if a resolution over 1024x768 is used) - pixelated appearance, lines around various elements.
Reduced terrain geometry LOD - not sure if this is caused directly by using Glide, or if the game just uses reduced distant detail because it "thinks" it's running at 1024x768.

Interesting that OpenGL seems to use such a different set of textures for terrain.

Try completely disabling mipmapping everywhere...
I am all in for GOG releasing the Metaltech games here, if only for the sake of completion. But really, I just installed Earthsiege yesterday on my windows 10 laptop and the process is almost as straightforward as a GOG installer: just mount the iso and launch the sierra installer. The new installer even downloads and installs DOSBox for you in case you don't have it. So far the game works flawlessly, I wish it was that easy for the C&C games.

Now, time for some cybrid hunting!

I was a player of the Star Siege game and played it for a long time, under a few names, mostly as Equuleus. There are still some die hard players that have refused to let this game die. I don't blame them as it is still one of my favorites even though I haven't played it in a long long time. The reason I don't play is a because of the very small community. It is not large enough to offer the multiplayer excitement of the game in it's glory days. I never played tribes as the slower paced herculean combat of star siege was much more fun and in my mind required a lot more skill as do most walking tank games. Considering the walking tank genre is still mainstream in games such as Mech Warrior Online and Hawken. after playing all of them I can still say the basic concept of Star Siege still has them all beat. The only thing it lacks is the eye candy of current graphics. If you are interested in trying it out please visit these people here.

(starsiege1.proboards.com/) Board will not let me add link but this is the addy

They run their own master server as there probably isn't one up for multiplayer servers. They can show you how to mod some simple files in the game so you will see the multiplayer severs that are community run. Keep in mind these are veterans and will probably stomp on you but with a little practice and advice you will get the hang of it. They can also introduce you to much of the old player maps and mod stuff that still exists. Keep in mind this is an old game but if you can put away the pretty stuff and just play the game for what it is I am sure you will find enjoyment in it. I am thinking of trying to run it again on windows ten and try and drop in for some old time fun. I have visited their boards and there seems to be some problems with newer OS but if it can run or will run , the people who will know the fixes will exist here. If the game had an influx of some players with the free release, perhaps there could be some multiplayer life left in it for awhile.

If anyone wants a decent image emulator to open ISO, CUE, BIN etc..
Here: winCDEmu

Anyway, I remember playing both Tribes 2 and Vengeance; the former having a great multiplayer system. One of them (maybe both) should have a decent campaign too.

I never really bothered with Tribes Ascend as I couldn't really learn to use the jet pack efficiently for multiplayer and it seems way too fast for my taste but has anyone played it? I'm curious if there are slower game modes.

Also for ISO discs on Windows 8 and above, you don't even need an image emulator as they are already built in into Windows. Also, why not Daemon Tools?

I'm currently using MagicISO on Windows 7, it works nicely too for various CD/DVD image formats.

I earlier used the free version of Alcohol, but it seemed at some point it started installing some adware or somesuch without giving me the option to reject, so off it goes.
Sorry for digging up so old thread, but I'm wondering about Cyberstorm series - they're part of Earthsiege "universe", yet they're not amongst available games. Was there any particular reason (e.g. copyright issues) or something like that?
Should've fixed win10 compatibility and released them here instead.
