The purple dot became a part of the landscape so long ago...
The purple dot never goes away and the blue dot never shows up.
Just waiting for the day when the activity feed dot also decides to take up permanent residence. So far it's been obedient and goes away when it should, but just imagine.... Two permanent purple dots. The implications are too great to think about :O

Embrace the dot! This thread proves over and over again that it's useless to resist.

Just a reminder for those of you using BE/AF, "clear notifications" (under the bell) removes the purple dot.
What's BE/AF, please?

Guter: What's BE/AF, please?
BE: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/barefoot_essentials_2_gogcom_enhancement
AF: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/adalia_fundamentals_fixing_gog_so_you_dont_have_to

I think the "clear notification" functionality is specifically part of BE, but I didn't bother to check, as most people, I presume, use both (or neither).
Thanks!
A sad observation: next month this thread will be 5 years old.

I wonder whether GOG will have a special sale to celebrate the event, perhaps with some new GOG-exclusive DLCs for selected games, which add spurious purple dots to those games.

This morning the reply notification would not go away.

It usually suffices to issue the javascript command from the OP in the developer tools' console but, as of now, the dot disappears after the command, and re-appears upon reload.

This is a first time it's doing this. Is the issue getting worse?

I was able to remove a purple dot as usual just now.

Maybe it wasn't cleared properly. In such cases, when it happens to me, 1 more try is usually enough.

Thank you! Today it worked. I can't be sure what did it. Yesterday, I was issuing the command multiple times and the dot kept persisting both on the top bar as well as in the drop down menu next to forum replies (I had of course also read any pending forum replies). Maybe today it got unstuck; I issued it two times back to back and it worked (first time the dot was gone, as before, but I issued it a second time to make sure it stayed gone).

Or maybe just by you quote-replying to me, refreshed whatever state the reply notification was in and fixed it.

In any case, thank you. The dot is gone.
Thank you so much, I was going crazy!
