It is not a big deal but it is annoying. You access GOG and see that you have a notification. So you went into the forum just to see that you already replied to it. It is impossible to see if you actually HAVE a new reply which you should react to or if it is just the usual purple dot error. Since the script is removing EVERY notification you might also accidentally delete those who were real not knowing that there even was anpother reply and so you might miss it. So no, we won't die but it is really annoying, especially if you are pretty active here.

Ok, that makes sense. Hopefully they fix the issue.

I just had a purple dot. Which went away after I opened the thread in which that reply had been made!? (There does seem to be a processing lag, since the reply was a day old - but all the same, this is very hopeful!)

Same thing happened with this reply. I saw there was one yesterday shortly after you made it, deliberately didn't click on it yet. Just now I got the purple dot for it. Opened the thread here. Purple dot disappeared.

Now if they can clear up that ~16-18 hour lag for the dot appearing...

I've got an immediate Purple Dot indication after your reply, clicked it when I saw it and nothing happens, it still there.

I guess you are lucky but if you reply to me again, I'll try to not click to the the reply and check again after 18 hours.

This one only took 17 minutes!
FWIW, I was starting from a blank slate (that is, I'd last ran a bookmarklet with adalia's clearing code a couple of days ago).

edit: hmm, there's something more at play. The purple dot was gone on the forum - but not on game page's. And now I'm not certain if I actually saw it pop up on the forum at all, or only at a game page. Anyway, just ran the bookmarklet again on a game page, so clean slate again now...

So what I see now is somehow even worse than what I used to see. I'm not getting any purple dots on the forum. I am getting a purple dot on game pages, a couple of minutes after a forum reply. That purple dot only goes away when I run the script from page 1 here. It's probably this inconsistency between game pages and forum which made me think before that the purple dot was disappearing as it should. Whee!

False alarm, I got it. It seems I was quoted without a direct reply before. My bad. I'll leave this thread for the next generation of GOG staff to fix it one day.

Thanks adaliabooks for the code in the OP to remove the dot. It showed up for me again. Annoying is that you can't see for what kind of new thing that dot shows up: there was a Friend request (sometimes people ask to be friends without even sending a message why they want to befriend me, so I decline those kind of requests) but after declining, the dot was still there. So I have used Adaliabooks' code, but it's very annoying. When searching I found this 5 year old reply of a blue (the famous JudasIscariot) that said they were aware of it and have added it to their bug-tracker: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/permanent_purple_dot/post11
