zeogold: We should start a Jim fanclub while he's not looking so that he's utterly confused when he comes back about how he makes one post on a random forum on the internet and suddenly everybody loves him.

phaolo: Btw, some people consider every 'effin error a freudian slip..
It's usually their own maliciousness fault, instead.

JDelekto: Or the sadistic sense of humor perpetrated by the developers of the "automatic spell checker".
In the gift shop of the museum where I work, I sometimes have to hand-enter items for sale that weren't put into the system by my boss. One of these items (which I've had to enter on multiple occasions) is called a 'cholita doll pen'. If I'm not careful, the register will try to auto-correct "cholita" to "cholera". =D

Bookmusicfan5472: Where would I announce that I made a purchase? It was a free adventure game called *Beneath a Steel Sky*. I also wishlisted ten games.
Welcome! If you really feel the need to announce your purchases, this is about the most recent general thread I know of (the "What's your haul?" threads are kind of sale-specific).

gogtrial34987: Welcome! I'm new here myself, but from what I've seen so far, this is a very nice (and yes, just ever so slightly crazy) community, with a lot of very generous people.
Welcome(?). Quite an interesting username. Did you set up that account just for the hell of it back in 2013, then abandon it until this sale (or GOG Connect) began, or what? =D

RetroPopz: Hi JIm,

I'm also a government employee about your age, working in DC.

I'm new to GOG too and I've found it to be a super gaming resource. This summer sale has really lightened my wallet. I'm almost ashamed of the number of games I bought, but they were such a great deal I couldn't pass on them.

Seems like a really friendly community, but I would steer clear of any threads with a political or social theme, as it can get ugly. I've decided to stick to gaming and just focus on the great games here. I had given up on PC gaming some years back but GOG has opened up a whole new approach for me.
Welcome!

I did set it up just for the hell of it back in 2013, yeah. And then over the years had my collection slowly grow (not a lot, mind you - I've never been very active, but did keep coming back), and since I somehow never looked into the forum, my username was pretty much irrelevant. And now of course I don't want to abandon my collection and start over, but changing my username doesn't seem doable :/ so I figure I'll just have to wear it proudly. :) (But any pointers for how to change it anyway most welcome.)

Contact support, they can change it.
Might ask you to verify some stuff.

Well, technically, in the absence of an oesophagus, stomach, intestinal tract or anus, a skeleton would probably drop any food it eats "as is", so you wouldn't have to worry about him shitting all over the place due to incontinence caused by muscular absenteeism.

They are known to change usernames? Cool! (My experience with forums is that when they don't provide the ability to do so through software, they also don't do it manually.)

I'll have to think of something appropriate to change it to... (And of course I'll wait out the sale so as to not flood them during this busy time.)

Bookmusicfan5472: Good morning from the United States' east coast. A 52-year-old government employee, I like to play games but am usually not very good at them. I also enjoy reading, traveling, music, and eating out. Looking forward to discussing some great games!

Welcome to GOG Asylum. Be mindfull that nothing here works the way you expect it to. ;-p I do hope you noticed the giant "Please leave your sanity behind when entering" neon sign when you entered as there is no turning back now! X-D

I don't remember that's why I was vague. :P
I do recall someone being asked to verify their first GOG purchase.
Probably the email he got.
